Intrinsically Safe Smartphones by Country. One device, every zone.
Certification programmes and distributor openings for the IS-04Z1, market by market, ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
One intrinsically safe smartphone, 54 market pages
Each country page sets out the certification route the IS-04Z1 is following for that market, the regulators and site rules that decide what may be carried into a classified area, the hazardous-area industries and sites where Zone 1 and Zone 21 conditions occur, and how evaluation and purchase work ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. Larger markets also have pages for individual operators and sectors.
The pages cover 54 markets: 8 in the Middle East, 20 in Europe, 6 in the Americas, 11 in Asia Pacific, 5 in Africa and 4 in CIS & Eurasia. The international baseline is the IECEx certificate; Europe adds ATEX, Great Britain UKEX and North America a NEC listing, and several countries add a national scheme on top. No certificate has been issued for the IS-04Z1 yet, and every country page states where its programme stands.
Middle East
Across the Middle East the certificate is the technical gate and the operator’s vendor registration is usually the commercial one. IECEx and ATEX evidence is widely requested, and the large national oil companies run their own registration portals: our guides cover Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, QatarEnergy, KOC and KNPC and PDO and OQ. Every country page sets out the regulator, the conformity or local-content step and where the IS-04Z1 programme stands.
Europe
In the EU and EEA the legal route is the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU: equipment is assessed by a notified body and carries CE marking and the Ex marking. Great Britain has its own UKEX regime, which the United Kingdom page covers separately, and Switzerland has its own arrangements alongside the same standards. Buyers in most European plants also look for an IECEx certificate as supporting evidence. The country pages concentrate on the sites and sectors where Zone 1 and Zone 21 conditions occur, from refining and chemicals to pharma and fuel logistics.
Americas
North America works on a different system: the National Electrical Code and the Canadian Electrical Code classify areas by Class and Division or by Zone, and equipment needs a listing from a recognised testing laboratory rather than an ATEX certificate. Brazil requires INMETRO certification, which in practice builds on IECEx test evidence. In Chile, Mexico and Peru the route usually starts from IECEx or ATEX evidence, with local import conformity and each operator’s supplier requirements on top. The IS-04Z1 programme targets NEC 500 Class I Division 1 for North America.
Asia Pacific
IECEx is the common baseline in Asia Pacific, and several countries add a national step on top: ANZEx in Australia and New Zealand, NEPSI in China, KOSHA in South Korea and TIIS in Japan, with their own import and registration rules in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore and Thailand. These national approvals follow the IECEx certificate rather than replace it, and they are listed as “to follow” for the IS-04Z1, which has no certificate yet.
Africa
Operators in these markets mostly work from IECEx or ATEX evidence plus their own supplier registration and local-content rules. South Africa applies the IEC 60079 standards through its national SANS adoptions. In Nigeria, Angola and Algeria the national and international oil companies set most of the practical requirements, including local-content registration. Egypt adds its own national steps.
CIS & Eurasia
Operators here mostly work from IECEx or ATEX evidence plus their own supplier registration and local-content rules. Kazakhstan adds EAC Ex certification under the Eurasian Economic Union after IECEx. Turkey applies its own ATEX-aligned regulation, with Turkish-language instructions and BTK radio approval. In Azerbaijan the national and international oil companies set most of the practical requirements, including local-content registration.
