Heat carried in humid air
Coastal sites run above 45 °C with humidity that dry-heat testing does not represent. A rugged build is aimed at heat, humidity and salt, and IP68 is what survives a jetty washdown.
The IS-04Z1 is a Zone 1 and Zone 21 handset for UAE field crews and the people who equip them: offshore operators, maintenance technicians, HSE advisers and telecoms teams. Launch is Q4 2026, so what we can share now is the specification, the certification schedule and an evaluation unit.
Launching Q4 2026 · IECEx certification and ECAS registration in progress
The classified-area map divides between Abu Dhabi’s hydrocarbon assets and the storage, trading and fabrication cluster in Dubai and the northern emirates. These are the operators and locations the launch programme targets.
Operators and contractors such as ADNOC Onshore, ADNOC Offshore and ADNOC Gas need an explosion proof mobile phone they can carry into classified areas at Ruwais, Habshan and Das Island. The IS-04Z1 is designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 duty there.
Coastal humidity, salt air and long offshore rotations wear equipment in ways inland plant does not. These are the points UAE evaluators press hardest on.
For evaluators in United Arab Emirates, the IS-04Z1 explosion proof mobile phone is designed around these points: Heat carried in humid air; Offshore, where a spare is a helicopter; Three tools collapsed into one; Evidence worth attaching to a work order; Connectivity that follows the asset; Controlled from your own console.
Coastal sites run above 45 °C with humidity that dry-heat testing does not represent. A rugged build is aimed at heat, humidity and salt, and IP68 is what survives a jetty washdown.
On Das, Zirku or a Zakum island there is no same-day replacement. A 4,000 mAh battery and a fully sealed body hold a unit in service until the next rotation.
Radio, camera and torch inside one handset shrinks what a contractor signs out at the gate and hands back at demobilisation, which is where loaned equipment goes missing.
The 50 MP camera with PDAF returns inspection photographs sharp enough to act on, and four-constellation GNSS records where each one was taken.
4G LTE off site, Wi-Fi inside the plant, Bluetooth for gas detectors and headsets, NFC for asset tags and access control. Push-to-talk over cellular runs as an app, not a second radio.
Android 16 with enterprise management enrols into the EMM or MDM platform you already run, so a telecoms team can push the corporate profile, restrict the camera and wipe a lost unit remotely.
UAE operators work from IECEx certificates when they assess hazardous-area equipment. MoIAT ECAS registration and TDRA radio approval form part of the launch programme and have not yet been granted.
Conformity in the Emirates is administered by MoIAT, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, through the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme. For hazardous-area equipment an ECAS registration is built on an IECEx Certificate of Conformity, and the radio inside the handset needs separate TDRA approval. Both sit inside the SAMS launch programme; neither is finished, and we would rather say so than let a specification assume otherwise.
Site access is decided somewhere else entirely. ADNOC supplier registration is a prerequisite for tendering across the group, and the In-Country Value certificate, audited annually and scored into bid evaluation, sets how a registered supplier ranks. ENOC, DP World and Borouge each run approvals of their own. If you are specifying a device for an ADNOC asset, the useful early question is which registered UAE entity will hold the supply.
Typical Zone 1 and Zone 21 duty for the IS-04Z1 explosion proof mobile phone in United Arab Emirates includes: Crew-change handover at Das Island and Zakum; Inspection rounds across Ruwais; Bunkering and tank farms at Fujairah and Jebel Ali; Yard and shutdown scopes at Musaffah.
A rotation inherits whatever the outgoing crew managed to record. Readings, photographs and notes captured on the handset travel with the shift log instead of staying behind on paper in the accommodation block.
The refinery, the polyolefin units and the chemicals zone at Ruwais draw on a contractor pool that moves between them. A handset designed for Zone 1 and centrally enrolled can follow a technician across sites without a fresh device issue.
Loading arms, manifolds and jetty operations are classified areas with constant ship interface. A phone that takes a washdown and holds a call from a berth beats a radio that cannot send a photograph of a damaged coupling.
Crews at the Musaffah yards and on turnaround scopes are issued equipment for the length of a job. Central enrolment and remote wipe make a fleet of loaned devices auditable when the job closes out.
None of this needs a purchase order. Ahead of the Q4 2026 launch these steps let your technical evaluation and our certification run at the same time.
Give us the zone, gas group and temperature class for the areas a device would enter, and the operator whose approval you work under. We will tell you plainly whether the certification timetable meets your project date.
You get the full specification and a written list of certifications in progress with target dates: what an HSE adviser needs to start an equipment selection justification, and what procurement needs to open a file.
Evaluation units will be offered to UAE operators and contractors for handling and enterprise-management trials in safe areas, moving to classified-area pilots once the certificate has been issued.
ICV scoring and ADNOC registration make a locally registered supplier the practical route for volume. We are appointing on that basis and can supply evaluation quantities directly until it is in place.
Send your site, zone and gas group, and we will answer for your plant rather than in general.
Ask about United Arab Emirates →Not yet. Launch is Q4 2026 and the certifications, including IECEx, ATEX and MoIAT ECAS registration, are still in progress. What exists today is the datasheet, the certification schedule and a place in the evaluation programme.
That approval belongs to ADNOC and follows the certificates rather than preceding them. Supplier registration and an ICV certificate are the commercial half of it, and we are building that channel with a UAE partner.
Zone 1 and Zone 21, gas and dust, with an ATEX marking target of II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. NEC 500 Class I Division 1 is being pursued as well, which matters on UAE projects written to the American code.
It is built for it, with IP68 sealing, rugged build and a 4,000 mAh battery sized for a full shift. Even so, we would rather you tested a unit on your own platform before committing a fleet.
Yes. Arabic and English are both available in the Android 16 interface and the documentation will be issued in both. Your own applications keep whatever languages they already run in.
A device holding an Ex certificate cannot be opened by a general repair shop without voiding it, so battery replacement and repair run through SAMS and the UAE partner it is appointing. Turnaround and spares pooling are part of what we are appointing distributors to provide.
It runs Android 16 with standard enterprise management, so it enrols into the EMM or MDM platform you already use, and push-to-talk over cellular runs as an application. Send your build requirements with the evaluation request.
No list price is published before certification completes. Pre-launch pricing is quoted in writing against quantity and configuration. Supply into ADNOC and the other operators runs through a registered partner, and ICV status affects how a bid is evaluated, so pricing is discussed alongside the channel rather than in isolation.
Tell us the site, the zone and gas group, and roughly how many handsets. The SAMS team replies by email with the datasheet and the certification schedule for United Arab Emirates. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and certification is in progress, so there is no list price yet; indicative pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
We are appointing UAE distributors holding ADNOC supplier registration and a current ICV certificate, able to pool spares within reach of Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali. Tell us which operators you already supply.
