A handset separately needs type approval from Komdigi and a local content assessment before it can be sold. All of it is in progress.
Your K3 and electrical people will ask for the certificate, and the argument they have to win is that the equipment matches the classified area it enters. Workplace electrical safety sits under the Ministry of Manpower framework, area classification is normally done to the IEC 60079-10 method by a certified expert, and Indonesian standards for explosive atmospheres follow the IEC 60079 series. That makes an IECEx Certificate of Conformity the working evidence. Upstream, the operator and the upstream regulator add their own equipment requirements on top of the national ones. None of the certificates exists yet.
The commercial route into Indonesia is heavier than in most markets and is worth planning early. A radio device needs type approval from the Directorate General under the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, the body previously known as SDPPI, and the certificate number and device identifier are what customs and the networks work from. An IMEI has to be registered or the handset will not be carried on an Indonesian network.
