Where petrochemical and fertiliser plants are classified in Indonesia

Pupuk Indonesia is the state fertiliser holding, and its operating companies include Pupuk Kaltim at Bontang, Petrokimia Gresik in East Java and Pupuk Sriwidjaja at Palembang, along with plants at Cikampek and in Aceh. Ammonia plants take natural gas, make hydrogen and nitrogen and combine them. Urea plants turn ammonia and carbon dioxide into urea, which is finished as prills or granules. Fertiliser plants run continuously and stop for planned turnarounds, when inspection and maintenance crews work through the plant. Operator rounds cover reformers, compressors, urea synthesis, finishing and storage. State-owned operators follow their own procurement and HSE rules, which we have not seen published, and Indonesian state entities generally also have local content expectations that a supplier should raise early. Ask each plant's procurement and HSE teams what evidence is needed, who must approve a new device class and whether a pilot on one unit comes first. Contractors such as engineering and maintenance firms often bring their own devices into these plants, so the operator's policy on contractor handsets is as important as its own.
