Explosion proof mobile phone for Gas, LNG and Pipelines in Turkiye

Türkiye imports most of its gas and moves it through a transmission network fed from Russia, Azerbaijan, LNG terminals and, since 2023, its own Black Sea field. This page is for the HSE, operations and telecoms teams across that chain who need an explosion proof mobile phone for gas, LNG and pipelines in Türkiye that suits unmanned stations as well as terminals. The IS-04Z1 is designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, and certification is in progress. The IS-04Z1 is designed around intrinsic safety rather than a flameproof enclosure.

Where a gas sector explosion proof mobile phone works in Türkiye

The sector has four kinds of site, and each wants something different from a handset. Import entry points, such as the TANAP line, 1,337 km from Posof to Seyitgazi in Eskişehir and flowing to Türkiye since 30 June 2018, and the TurkStream landfall at Kıyıköy, are large, quiet stations. LNG terminals are busy, with cargoes arriving at the onshore terminals at Marmara Ereğlisi and Aliağa and the floating units at Aliağa, Dörtyol and Saros. Black Sea production reaches the shore at Filyos through a pipeline of about 170 km. Between them, the transmission lines run through compressor and metering stations such as Çorum on the Samsun–Ankara Blue Stream line. For the operator’s own network, see the page on an explosion proof phone for BOTAŞ.

Facilities by type

TANAP
1,337 km from Posof to Seyitgazi; connected to the BOTAŞ network in 2018.
TurkStream
Landfall and receiving terminal near Kıyıköy, linking to the network at Lüleburgaz.
Blue Stream
Samsun–Ankara line commissioned in 2003, with a compressor station at Çorum.
EgeGaz Aliağa
Onshore LNG terminal: two 140,000 m³ tanks and 40 million m³ a day send-out.
Etki Liman, Aliağa
Floating storage and regasification unit operated separately from EgeGaz.
Sakarya gas field
Black Sea field with an onshore processing plant at Filyos, first gas in 2023.
Ceyhan terminal
Crude storage and jetty operated by BOTAŞ International for the BTC and Iraq lines.

What gas sector work does to a handset

Gas work spans the quietest and the busiest sites in the country. These are the conditions that separate a handset that is used from one that stays in a vehicle.

Remote stations that nobody sits at

A regulating or valve station may be visited weekly. Four-constellation GNSS puts the station on the visit record, and the 4,000 mAh cell is sized for a route that includes long drives and no charging point inside the fence.

Terminals that run on the ship’s schedule

LNG cargoes at Aliağa, Marmara Ereğlisi and the floating units arrive on schedule regardless of the hour. IP68 sealing handles spray at the jetty, and the 50 MP camera records the manifold and connection state for the cargo record.

Fiscal records that have to match

A metering station feeds money and balance accounts. A photograph of a reading with a time and a position beside it is stronger evidence than a notebook line, and Android Enterprise policy can stop it being edited off the device.

Several operators on one corridor

TPAO, BOTAŞ and private LNG terminal operators all work in the same region. Each runs its own console, and the IS-04Z1 is designed to be managed from the existing MDM console rather than a new one.

Use cases · Gas, LNG and pipelines

Where the IS-04Z1 goes to work.

Pipelines01

Valve and scraper station visits

A technician arrives at a remote valve site, records the position and photographs the actuator. The report goes straight to the maintenance planner instead of waiting for a return to a depot.

LNG02

Terminal rounds at Aliağa and Marmara Ereğlisi

An operator on a vaporiser or tank round logs readings and photographs anything unusual. The same device carries the permit and reaches the control room.

Upstream03

Filyos processing plant operations

Staff at the onshore plant for Black Sea gas work through process areas where the gas arrives from a long subsea line, and need a record that links a photograph to a location.

Questions · Gas, LNG and pipelines

Frequently asked questions

Is methane harder on a handset than refinery gas?

Methane is gas group IIA, the easiest of the groups to protect against. A handset marked for IIC covers IIA, so the group is not the limiting factor at a gas site; the temperature class and the zone drawings are.

Can one handset serve a pipeline route and a terminal?

The zone, not the sector, is what matters. A Zone 1 device can be used in Zone 2, so a route that crosses both can use one handset, provided the classification drawings and the operator’s HSE team agree.

How are floating LNG units treated differently?

A floating unit is a ship, and its hazardous areas follow marine rules in addition to the terminal’s. Check with the vessel operator and the terminal HSE team before taking any handset aboard.
