Distance and the lone worker
Compressor stations, valve nodes and tank farm outskirts are visited by one person at a time. A device with position, camera and voice lowers the cost of every visit.
Poland’s gas and fuel infrastructure runs from the Świnoujście LNG terminal and the Baltic Pipe compressor stations to PERN’s crude tank farms and fuel bases. This page is for HSE and operations teams across that infrastructure, and the contractors working on it, who need an explosion proof mobile phone in Poland suited to Zone 1 work. The IS-04Z1 is designed for that; certification is in progress ahead of Q4 2026. The IS-04Z1 is designed around intrinsic safety rather than a flameproof enclosure.

Three kinds of asset sit under this heading and they behave differently. Gas transmission, with the LNG terminal, compressor stations and reduction stations, is a methane business; see explosion proof phone for Gaz-System. Crude and fuel storage, with tank farms and fuel bases, is a liquid-vapour business; see explosion proof phone for PERN. Between them are the interfaces: marine terminals, rail and road loading, and the point where gas becomes feedstock for a refinery. This page compares what each does to a handset, and what the three have in common: unmanned sites, long routes and contractors for short outages. Both operators also feed refineries such as the Orlen sites at Płock and Gdańsk, so a refinery contractor will meet this infrastructure at its fence.
The common points are more important than the differences: distance, weather and the lone worker.
Compressor stations, valve nodes and tank farm outskirts are visited by one person at a time. A device with position, camera and voice lowers the cost of every visit.
Tank farms and valve stations have little shelter. IP68 sealing and a rugged build are aimed at that, with the ambient range fixed by the certificate.
Gas group IIC and T4 are above what methane or gasoline vapour requires, which leaves margin. The operator’s classification drawing is still the controlling document.
Zone 0 spaces are outside the design target. Tank entry and pipe entry stay on the operator’s procedures.
Android Enterprise and existing MDM consoles manage the handset alongside the rest of the operator’s devices.
Compressor and tank outages are brief, and contractors are on site for days, not months. Enrolment and wiping must therefore be quick.
Log readings, photograph a defect and call the control room on one device.
Record gauge readings and sample labels at the point of work.
Position and photographs attach to an inspection record on a long route, so the next crew can find the same fitting without a description.
The gas group is less demanding, but the zone is what matters, so a Zone 1 location is a Zone 1 location in either case.
The IS-04Z1 is designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 areas, which include many jetty and loading locations. The terminal’s classification decides each location.
Because the working pattern differs: fewer people, longer distances and more lone working, against the crowded units and shutdown surges of a refinery. A handset policy that suits one does not automatically suit the other.
No. Certification is in progress, SAMS has no pilot or order at any Polish gas or fuel site, and each operator decides for itself.
Tell us the site, the zone and gas group, and roughly how many handsets. The SAMS team replies by email with the datasheet and the certification schedule for Poland. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and certification is in progress, so there is no list price yet; indicative pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
Tell us the zone, gas group and operator. We will send the datasheet and the certification schedule for your market.
