Zone 1 gas across all of them
The ATEX marking target for the IS-04Z1 is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. The gas group covers light hydrocarbons and hydrogen, but the certificate and each site's classification drawing decide what is allowed.
Jordan has little crude of its own, so the case for an explosion proof mobile phone in Jordan's oil and gas sector rests on one inland refinery at Zarqa, fuel distribution, and a set of terminals at Aqaba. Gas also matters, with an onshore field at Risha and the Arab Gas Pipeline starting at Aqaba. This page maps those sites and says who would ask what of a handset. The IS-04Z1 is designed around intrinsic safety rather than a flameproof enclosure.

The Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company runs the only refinery, at Zarqa, with an oil terminal and storage in Aqaba. Aqaba's port zone has an oil port, a separate LPG port and an LNG berth, Al-Sheikh Sabah, where a floating storage vessel feeds the power sector under the National Electricity Company. The oil port has been expanded from 7 to 14 million tonnes of annual capacity. In the east, National Petroleum Company operates the Risha gas field under a concession signed in 1996, and the Arab Gas Pipeline's Jordanian leg runs from Aqaba to the Rihab power plant in the north. Together these give Zone 1 gas areas of several kinds on very different sites.
A refinery, a jetty and a desert gas field are different jobs. The shared requirement is a device that can go into a gas zone without a safe-area stop.

Jetties combine salt air, wind, ship-to-shore coordination and permit systems. IP68 sealing handles spray and humidity, and the camera records tank gauge and hose connection state.
A desert gas field is a long drive from Amman. A 4,000 mAh battery for a shift and four-constellation GNSS for well positions matter more there than at the refinery.
Android Enterprise and MDM let a company apply one policy across refinery, terminals and wells, in Arabic or English.
We have not seen any operator's rosters. The refinery and terminals run continuously with shift operators on field rounds, and planned outages bring in contractors. A fourth-phase refinery expansion has been announced, and if it proceeds it would add construction traffic to a live site. Gas fields and pipeline stations are sparsely staffed and remote, so call-out crews matter more than rounds. Read the site pages for explosion proof phone for the Zarqa refinery and Aqaba ports and logistics.
Operators and turnaround contractors share one device policy with permit, directory and camera.
Marine and terminal staff coordinate discharge and loading from classified areas.
A crew sent to a well location uses a coordinate rather than directions, and photographs the fault for the planner.
JPRC, JoPetrol, National Petroleum Company and the port operators each run separate procurement, and we have not verified any registration procedure, so we describe none. Ask each company's procurement and HSE teams for supplier requirements and hazardous-area selection rules. Expect the Ex certificate and marking string, the temperature class, a radio approval reference and a service route to be requested.
The IS-04Z1 does not yet hold those. IECEx and ATEX certification are in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. Supply is normally expected to run through a Jordanian-registered partner; see the Jordan country page.
Yes, a small one. Risha is an onshore conventional gas field operated by National Petroleum Company, and the Arab Gas Pipeline reaches Jordan at Aqaba. Most of the country's energy is imported.
No. JoPetrol markets and distributes fuel; JPRC refines. Procurement is separate.
The design target is Zone 1 gas, which suits LNG and LPG areas, but classification of a floating storage and regasification facility is set by its operator and the vessel's own rules.
The Aqaba jetties and oil and LPG ports operate their own permit regimes. A handset only enters those areas under the operator's rules, and certificates must exist first.
Tell us the site, the zone and gas group, and roughly how many handsets. The SAMS team replies by email with the datasheet and the certification schedule for Jordan. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and certification is in progress, so there is no list price yet; indicative pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
Tell us the zone, gas group and operator. We will send the datasheet and the certification schedule for your market.
