The Zeebrugge terminal sits on about 30 hectares and, according to public technical descriptions, has reception facilities, LNG storage tanks, vaporisation and send-out plant, and a second jetty built to receive carriers from small vessels of about 2,000 cubic metres up to large ones of 217,000. Public sources also describe a fifth, larger storage tank. LNG is stored at around minus 162 degrees Celsius, so the hazard picture is methane gas in air at the jetty, around vaporisers and boil-off compressors, with cold surfaces and vapour clouds as the working conditions. The existing page also mentions ship-to-ship transfer and small-scale bunkering, which add transfer hoses and moving vessels to the picture.
The transmission network is the other half. Fluxys Belgium operates the national grid, and its compressor and metering stations are Zone 1 and Zone 2 gas areas that are often unmanned, visited by a small crew. Gas is not a single gas group: methane is group IIA, but hydrogen blending trials and odorant or condensate areas could introduce others, which is why the design target remains group IIC.
A jetty in the North Sea means driven rain, salt spray and cold mornings, while cryogenic transfer areas have cold surfaces. IP68 sealing and rugged construction are aimed at that duty. Exact operating temperature limits belong on the datasheet, which we will supply on request.
A metering station is a small plot visited by one crew, often out of coverage. GNSS gives a located record of the visit, and the camera records valve and instrument positions. Lone worker procedures on site will determine what monitoring is added.
Cargo operations run to arrival and departure times. A single handset for calls, photographs and checklists means that the jetty operator does not carry a radio, a camera and a clipboard.
The terminal crew and the pipeline crew use the same Zone 1 design. Fluxys would enrol both from one MDM console and set different application and camera policies for each.
