What “industrial” means for a smartphone
“Industrial” describes a phone built for plant conditions: sealed, drop-resistant and manageable at fleet scale through Android Enterprise. It does not by itself mean the phone may enter a classified area. Only a device with a valid explosion-protection certificate and marking may do that.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to be both an industrial Android phone (IP68, 4,000 mAh battery, 50 MP camera, Android 16 with EMM and MDM support) and an intrinsically safe one. Its explosion-protection certificates are in progress and have not been issued.
In Senoko. A plant of this scale runs shift crews plus outage contractors, so a shared pool of handhelds under EMM or MDM suits it. Enrolment, app lists and lock-down policies should be set before devices reach site. Charging belongs in a safe area such as a control room, and connectivity rules are the plant's.

Is the whole Senoko estate a hazardous area?
No. Classified areas are concentrated at the power station's gas systems and at fuel storage, not across the whole industrial zone. Other tenants may have none at all. Ask the specific site for its area classification drawing before choosing equipment.
What type of hazardous areas does a gas-fired power station have?
Typical examples are gas pressure-reduction and metering stations, gas turbine enclosures, fuel oil storage and pump areas, and battery or hydrogen-related rooms. Most are Zone 2 in normal operation, but Zone 1 can occur around specific equipment, so confirm with the plant.
Who approves contractor devices at the power station?
The plant operator runs its own contractor and equipment approvals, and SAMS has no role in them. Send its procurement and HSE teams the IS-04Z1 datasheet and target marking, noting that certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued.
