Power station
Senoko Power Station is a combined cycle plant with a licensed capacity of 2,644 MW and supplies about 20 per cent of Singapore's electricity needs, according to its operator.
Senoko is an industrial subzone of Sembawang on Singapore's northern coast, best known for Senoko Power Station. Classified areas centre on the power station's gas systems and on fuel storage tank leasing and terminal services, not on the whole estate. An IECEx mobile phone distributor in Senoko would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Senoko has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Where things stand: the IS-04Z1 has not launched, and none of its four certification routes has produced a certificate yet. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Senoko Industrial Zone. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.

Senoko Power Station is a combined cycle plant with a licensed capacity of 2,644 MW and supplies about 20 per cent of Singapore's electricity needs, according to its operator.
Senoko Energy lists Marubeni Corporation and Sembcorp Industries as its shareholders.
The station stands on the site of a former British naval base in Sembawang on Singapore's northern coast, so the shoreline is a mixture of old naval and new industrial land.
Natural gas has replaced crude oil as the main fuel since 1992, with fuel oil kept as a back-up, and stage III boilers were modified with gas burners to burn either fuel.
Senoko is best known for two uses, its power station and a fishery port, so large power plant and wholesale seafood handling share the same stretch of Sembawang's northern coastline.
Equatorial heat and humidity, with frequent heavy showers, are constant on this northern coast and affect outdoor switchyards, fuel tanks and gas metering stations.
IECEx is the international scheme for certifying equipment used in explosive atmospheres. A certificate of conformity is issued by an accredited certification body against a specific edition of the IEC 60079 standards and carries a schedule of conditions of safe use. It is not a legal requirement in most countries on its own, but many national schemes accept it as the technical basis.
The IECEx certificate for the IS-04Z1 is in progress and has not been issued. The marking target is Ex ib IIC T4, the intrinsic safety concept for Zone 1 gas with the hardest gas group (IIC) and a 135 °C temperature class.
In Senoko. Senoko's owners are international groups, so visiting engineers and outage contractors may be used to reading IECEx paperwork. A certificate of conformity with its schedule of conditions is what such a reader would look for. For the IS-04Z1 neither document exists yet, because the IECEx programme is still in progress.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Senoko yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
No. The IECEx certificate is in progress and has not been issued. SAMS will publish the number when it exists.
Likely candidates are power plant gas and fuel systems, fuel storage tanks and terminal services. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Senoko.
No. Classified areas are concentrated at the power station's gas systems and at fuel storage, not across the whole industrial zone. Other tenants may have none at all. Ask the specific site for its area classification drawing before choosing equipment.
Typical examples are gas pressure-reduction and metering stations, gas turbine enclosures, fuel oil storage and pump areas, and battery or hydrogen-related rooms. Most are Zone 2 in normal operation, but Zone 1 can occur around specific equipment, so confirm with the plant.
The plant operator runs its own contractor and equipment approvals, and SAMS has no role in them. Send its procurement and HSE teams the IS-04Z1 datasheet and target marking, noting that certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued.
