Berths
The oil terminal can operate 9 main berths or 14 wing berths for vessels up to 200,000 dwt, plus 4 bunker barge berths and a VLCC jetty for vessels up to 330,000 dwt.
The Port of Fujairah, on the Gulf of Oman outside the Strait of Hormuz, has an oil terminal (FOTT) with main and wing berths, bunker barge berths and a VLCC jetty. Tank farms, jetties, manifolds and bunkering areas give Zone 1 classification, and the Habshan-Fujairah pipeline brings Abu Dhabi crude. Distribution partners for Fujairah oil terminals are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Fujairah oil terminals has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
For the record, no certificate exists for the IS-04Z1 today. The programme is under way ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Fujairah Oil Terminal. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
Who operates there and which kinds of classified area a handset would meet, from the SAMS site research.
The oil terminal can operate 9 main berths or 14 wing berths for vessels up to 200,000 dwt, plus 4 bunker barge berths and a VLCC jetty for vessels up to 330,000 dwt.
The Habshan-Fujairah oil pipeline has carried Abu Dhabi crude to the Gulf of Oman coast since July 2012.
The northern breakwater berth hosts the port's two oil terminals, while the southern berth has 840 m of general cargo quay with a 15 m draft.
Fujairah VIII liquids storage terminal, operated by Fujairah Oil Terminal FZC and operational since 2015, is reached by pipeline, road and sea and mainly stores crude oil and petroleum products.
Fujairah lies on the only eastern seaboard of the UAE and is within 300 km of all the emirates, so equipment can be trucked in from Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
UAE handsets need type approval from the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, with certificates renewed every three years and a valid supplier register.
“Ex-proof” is shorthand for equipment carrying an explosion-protection marking (the Ex mark) that matches the area it enters. The marking states the protection concept, gas or dust group and temperature class, and it must be backed by a certificate issued by a recognised body, so a phone described as Ex-proof should come with a certificate number you can check.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to carry the marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. That is a target: certification is in progress, no certificate has been issued, and SAMS will publish the certificate numbers when they exist.
In Fujairah oil terminals. A marking check at Fujairah would compare each area's zone, gas group and temperature class with the device marking. Tank farms, jetties and pump areas handling petroleum products may be Zone 1. The IS-04Z1 target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4, which is in progress; terminal operators set what they accept.
A distributor for Fujairah oil terminals would carry the IS-04Z1 after certification completes; the Q4 2026 launch is the planning date and no appointment has been made. SAMS reviews applicants one by one and prefers companies with their own Ex-competent technical and service staff, since certified devices must not be repaired outside approved channels.
Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. It becomes a marking only when the certificate is issued; until then it is a design target.
Likely candidates are oil tank farms, marine loading jetties, pump and manifold areas, bunkering operations. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Fujairah oil terminals.
The southern breakwater berth is the port's vessel repair site with a travel lift, while the northern berth hosts the oil terminals. Hot work and repair activity therefore happen within the same port, so permit-to-work controls are important; follow each operator's procedures.
By sea through the port, by road within 300 km of all emirates, and by Etihad Rail, which links Fujairah with Ruwais and Ghuwaifat. Choose the route according to size and customs needs, and confirm access rules with the terminal operator.
Fujairah has a hot desert climate, with summer highs around 41 degrees C and occasional heavy rain. The IS-04Z1 is designed to IP68 for dust and water ingress and has a 4,000 mAh battery. Heat limits have not been published, so ask for the datasheet.
