Seatrium sites
Its official contact page lists Admiralty Yard, Benoi Yard, Pioneer Yard, Tuas Yard and Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore.
Singapore's major shipyards are run by Seatrium, with yards at Admiralty, Benoi, Pioneer, Tuas and Tuas Boulevard, and by ST Engineering. Seatrium lists its Singapore yards at Admiralty Road West, 15 Benoi Road, 50 Gul Road, 51 Pioneer Sector 1 and 80 Tuas South Boulevard, each with its own gate and switchboard. An ATEX and IECEx smartphone distributor in Singapore shipyards would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Singapore shipyards has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Current position: certification in progress, nothing issued, launch targeted for Q4 2026. Operator approval runs on its own timeline. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Singapore Shipyard. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.

Its official contact page lists Admiralty Yard, Benoi Yard, Pioneer Yard, Tuas Yard and Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore.
ST Engineering acquired the Gul yard in 2023 for ship repair, and keeps its Benoi yard mainly for shipbuilding.
Two large FPSOs, P-80 and P-82, were christened at the Tuas Boulevard Yard, each designed to produce 225,000 barrels of oil a day.
Pioneer Yard has a 1,400 metre quay with 8 to 10 metres of depth, with a second quay of 350 metres, giving long alongside berths for repair work.
Basic worker residential blocks at Benoi Sector and Pioneer Road house many people who work in the western yards, so shift changes concentrate traffic in that corridor.
Heat, humidity and frequent heavy showers affect work on open decks, quays and docks all year round.
ATEX is the European legal framework for equipment used in explosive atmospheres (Directive 2014/34/EU). IECEx is the international certification scheme built on the IEC 60079 standards. Buyers outside Europe often ask for both: an IECEx certificate is the technical evidence most national regimes build on, while ATEX is the legal route into the European market.
For the IS-04Z1 both routes are in progress with TÜV in Germany and neither certificate has been issued. The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4: equipment Group II (surface industry), Category 2 (Zone 1 gas), protection concept ib (intrinsic safety), gas group IIC and temperature class T4.
In Singapore shipyards. Vessel owners, class surveyors and yard crews from many countries meet in Singapore's yards, so a reviewer would expect ATEX and IECEx evidence for handhelds entering tanks. The IS-04Z1 certification is in progress and only a datasheet is available now. Each yard safety department decides which certificates and conditions it accepts.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Singapore shipyards yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
Not yet. Both routes are in progress with TÜV in Germany and no certificate has been issued. Any listing that says otherwise is wrong.
Likely candidates are vessel tank spaces, dry dock and repair work, paint and coating shops, offshore conversion. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Singapore shipyards.
No. Zones depend on the vessel, its last cargo, gas-freeing status and the work permit in force, and they can change within a day. Always check the permit and the gas-free certificate before using a portable device in a tank or enclosed space.
Singapore's constant heat and humidity, plus frequent heavy showers, stress seals, screens and batteries. Choose devices with suitable ingress protection and keep a routine for drying, charging and storing them outside classified areas.
No. Seatrium runs most major yards, but there are also smaller yards in Jurong that have not been verified here. Each sets its own device rules. Confirm requirements with the yard safety department concerned.
