Surabaya is the capital of East Java and home to Tanjung Perak, Indonesia's second-largest port. Satellite cities of Mojokerto, Gresik, Sidoarjo, Bangkalan and Lamongan form the wider metropolitan area, which is where much heavier industry and port-side plants are found around the city. Distribution partners for Surabaya and the Gresik industrial area are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Surabaya. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.

Gresik lies about 25 kilometres north-west of Surabaya, and its two largest factories are Semen Gresik and Petrokimia Gresik.
A long record as a trading port has produced strong financial infrastructure, with banks, insurers and export-import companies, so procurement, customs brokerage and freight services are easy to find.
Juanda International Airport, about 12 km from central Surabaya in Sidoarjo, is Indonesia's third busiest airport and served around 500 aircraft a day in 2019, with Batik Air and Citilink using it as a hub.
The Port of Tanjung Perak in north Surabaya is Indonesia's second-busiest seaport, on a site where a modern port facility was first built in 1910, giving contractors a major sea gateway to eastern Indonesia.
The city hosts a large shipyard and several naval schools, and in the Dutch colonial era hosted the most extensive naval base in the colony, so marine and ship-repair work is a core local activity.
“Industrial” describes a phone built for plant conditions: sealed, drop-resistant and manageable at fleet scale through Android Enterprise. It does not by itself mean the phone may enter a classified area. Only a device with a valid explosion-protection certificate and marking may do that.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to be both an industrial Android phone (IP68, 4,000 mAh battery, 50 MP camera, Android 16 with EMM and MDM support) and an intrinsically safe one. Its explosion-protection certificates are in progress and have not been issued.
In Surabaya and the Gresik industrial area. Surabaya has many plants of varied size, from large operators such as Petrokimia Gresik to the estate's roughly 300 companies, so fleets range widely. MDM or EMM enrolment, contractor rules and safe-area charging should be agreed with each site.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Surabaya and the Gresik industrial area yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.
Yes by design: IP68 sealing, a 4,000 mAh battery, a 50 MP camera and Android 16 with EMM and MDM support. The explosion-protection certificates are separate and still in progress.
Likely candidates are port fuel and chemical handling, fertiliser and chemical plants, cement plant dust areas, industrial estate chemical plants. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Surabaya and the Gresik industrial area.
Temperatures are steady, around 23 to 31 degrees, but the wet season from October to May brings heavy rain and humidity, and coastal air adds salt. Devices typically need good ingress protection and cleaning routines for exposed use.
The wider metropolitan area includes Gresik, Sidoarjo and other satellite cities with port-side and industrial plants. Typical hazards include fuel, chemical and bulk handling, so ask each operator for its zone classification and device approval requirements.
Yes in practice. Gresik lies about 25 kilometres north-west of Surabaya, and its fertiliser and cement works are major buyers of safety equipment. Requirements are set plant by plant. Confirm with each site operator's safety function.
