Pipeline link
Two pipelines of over 200 km, part of the Integrated Gas Development project, link Das Island with the Habshan complex on the mainland.
Das Island lies in the Arabian Gulf about 160 km off the UAE mainland, and ADNOC Gas operates five gas processing trains and three dedicated LNG trains there. LNG trains T1 and T2 started in 1977 and T3 in 1994, with a combined capacity of about 5.7 million tonnes a year, so equipment ranges from older to newer units. An industrial smartphone distributor in Das Island would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Das Island has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Current position: certification in progress, nothing issued, launch targeted for Q4 2026. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Das Island. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
A short profile of the site and the kinds of classified area that matter for portable equipment.

Hot, humid marine setting with salt-laden air; the island is also a turtle and seabird breeding site, so environmental rules apply.
UAE phones are type-approved by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, and the supplier register must be valid for a certificate to be issued.
Abu Dhabi's first offshore platform was installed at Umm Shaif in 1958, and Das Island was turned into the base for those offshore operations.
Das Island airport is the only airport on the island, and about 6,000 rotating staff arrive by air or sea, so travel is tied to the operator's schedules.
The first export cargo of crude oil from Abu Dhabi left Das Island on 4 July 1962, which makes it one of the oldest oil export sites in the Emirates.
“Industrial” describes a phone built for plant conditions: sealed, drop-resistant and manageable at fleet scale through Android Enterprise. It does not by itself mean the phone may enter a classified area. Only a device with a valid explosion-protection certificate and marking may do that.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to be both an industrial Android phone (IP68, 4,000 mAh battery, 50 MP camera, Android 16 with EMM and MDM support) and an intrinsically safe one. Its explosion-protection certificates are in progress and have not been issued.
In Das Island. With a rotating workforce of roughly 6,000 people, many firms and individuals pass through the island. Phones would be enrolled in EMM or MDM by employers, and ADNOC Gas controls contractor registration. Charging would take place in safe areas such as accommodation or offices, not in process areas.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Das Island yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
Yes by design: IP68 sealing, a 4,000 mAh battery, a 50 MP camera and Android 16 with EMM and MDM support. The explosion-protection certificates are separate and still in progress.
Likely candidates are gas processing trains, lng trains, crude and lng tanker loading, pipelines to habshan. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Das Island.
No. Two LNG trains date from 1977 and a third from 1994, and the island has been extended since, including a 2016 southern addition. Older and newer areas may have different area classification and equipment standards, so ask for the drawings.
Radio equipment supplied into the UAE normally needs approval from the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, with a valid supplier register. Offshore and island sites may also restrict wireless devices, so confirm both with your importer and the operator.
Access is by air and sea under operator control, and ADNOC Gas controls equipment approval and contractor registration for the island. A device would need to meet its requirements before use. Ask ADNOC Gas's procurement and HSE teams about registration, approval and shipping.
