Chemicals hub
JTC Chemicals Hub @ Tuas South (4 Tuas South Drive) is a multi-tenant development for manufacturing, blending and distribution of chemicals, including dangerous goods, with enhanced fire protection systems.
Tuas is a largely industrial planning area of 47.7 square kilometres in far western Singapore, with shipyards, heavy industry, a chemicals hub and the new Tuas Port. Tuas was swamp and then a fishing village before being resettled in the 1970s and developed for industry, with land reclaimed off the coast from the 1980s and still expanding. Distribution partners for Tuas are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Tuas has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Where things stand: the IS-04Z1 has not launched, and none of its four certification routes has produced a certificate yet. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Tuas Industrial Zone. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.

JTC Chemicals Hub @ Tuas South (4 Tuas South Drive) is a multi-tenant development for manufacturing, blending and distribution of chemicals, including dangerous goods, with enhanced fire protection systems.
Tuas Port has operated since 2022 with 14 berths and is due to reach 18 by 2027; Seatrium's headquarters yard is at 80 Tuas South Boulevard.
PSA plans to move its city terminals by 2027 and Pasir Panjang by 2040 into the Tuas Megaport, shifting Singapore's container operations to the west.
Seatrium's Tuas Yard at 51 Pioneer Sector 1 and its Tuas Boulevard Yard at 80 Tuas South Boulevard operate in the area, with the latter also hosting FPSO construction.
The Malaysia-Singapore Second Link opened on 2 January 1998 via Tuas, and the AYE and PIE expressways connect Tuas to the rest of Singapore.
Tuas is mostly industrial with few homes, so workers live in basic residential blocks at Benoi Sector and Pioneer Road or travel in from other parts of Singapore.
“Industrial” describes a phone built for plant conditions: sealed, drop-resistant and manageable at fleet scale through Android Enterprise. It does not by itself mean the phone may enter a classified area. Only a device with a valid explosion-protection certificate and marking may do that.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to be both an industrial Android phone (IP68, 4,000 mAh battery, 50 MP camera, Android 16 with EMM and MDM support) and an intrinsically safe one. Its explosion-protection certificates are in progress and have not been issued.
In Tuas. Tuas is a mostly industrial area with very few residents, so workforces commute in daily and contractors move between yards and tenants. A managed fleet under EMM or MDM should be enrolled before devices reach a site. Charging belongs in a safe area, and each tenant sets its own network rules.
A distributor for Tuas would carry the IS-04Z1 after certification completes; the Q4 2026 launch is the planning date and no appointment has been made. SAMS reviews applicants one by one and prefers companies with their own Ex-competent technical and service staff, since certified devices must not be repaired outside approved channels.
No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
Yes by design: IP68 sealing, a 4,000 mAh battery, a 50 MP camera and Android 16 with EMM and MDM support. The explosion-protection certificates are separate and still in progress.
Likely candidates are shipyard and drydock work, dangerous-goods chemical blending and storage, fabrication and coating shops. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Tuas.
Mostly shipyards, chemical and fuel handling sites, a renewable diesel plant and waste-to-energy facilities. Classified areas are limited to specific plants rather than the whole zone, so ask each tenant for its area classification.
Yes. The port will grow in phases through the 2040s and PSA plans to relocate city terminals into it, so traffic and construction will increase. Contractors should check gate and escort rules with the host site.
No. Classified areas arise mainly at shipyards, fuel and chemical handling and process plants, and which tenants have them has not been verified individually. Ask each tenant for its area classification, and confirm with the site operator.
