Santos lies 79 km from Sao Paulo city; the first railway to the state capital opened in 1864 and the port was founded on 2 February 1892, making it the traditional gateway for the state. Hazardous areas arise at liquid-bulk terminals handling fuels, chemicals and vegetable oils, and at tank farms and tanker berths. A hazardous area smartphone distributor in Port of Santos would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Port of Santos has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Where things stand: the IS-04Z1 has not launched, and none of its four certification routes has produced a certificate yet. Operator approval runs on its own timeline. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Santos Port Operations. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
A short profile of the site and the kinds of classified area that matter for portable equipment.

The port handles roughly 28 per cent of Brazil's total cargo, so terminals run continuously.
The Santos Port Authority has begun installing a private 5G network under its Porto de Santos Conecta programme, relevant to anyone planning radio or data devices on the quay.
Exports of gasoline rose 24.1 percent and fuel oil 15.3 percent in August 2025 alongside pulp and soybeans, showing steady liquid-bulk flows through the port.
The port accounted for 29.9 percent of Brazil's total trade flows in August 2025 and recorded 489 ship calls in the month, up 9.6 percent.
It has terminals for solid and liquid bulk, containers and general cargo, and land access is by the Anchieta and Imigrantes highways and by railways run by Ferroban and MRS.
A hazardous area is a place where flammable gas, vapour or combustible dust may be present. Standards divide these into zones: Zones 0, 1 and 2 for gas and vapour, and Zones 20, 21 and 22 for dust. Zone 1 and Zone 21 are the tier where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation, which is where the IS-04Z1 is designed to work. Anything carried in must be marked for the zone, gas group and temperature class of the area.
No certificate has been issued for the IS-04Z1 yet, so it must not be taken into a classified area until the certificate covering it exists and the site operator has accepted it.
In Port of Santos. Hazardous areas arise at liquid-bulk terminals, tank farms, tanker piers and loading arms and LPG handling. Alemoa alone has four ship piers and about 112 tanks used by Transpetro and other companies. Each terminal operator classifies its own area; SAMS does not.
Distribution of the IS-04Z1 is by authorised partners only, and SAMS has not yet granted a territory for Port of Santos. Each application is reviewed on its merits. Because opening a certified Ex handset in an ordinary workshop invalidates its certificate, the partner must be able to support and service the device locally.
Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
Zone 1 and Zone 21 (gas and dust) with gas group IIC and temperature class T4, subject to certification. It must not be used in a classified area before its certificate is issued and the site has accepted it.
Likely candidates are liquid-bulk fuel and chemical terminals, tank farms, tanker piers and loading arms, lpg handling. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Port of Santos.
Liquid bulk terminals handling fuels, chemicals and ethanol, tank farms, pipelines and vessel loading arms typically have classified zones. Container yards are mostly non-hazardous, so ask each terminal for its area classification before specifying devices.
Santos is the main entry for imported goods, with about 30 percent of national trade by value in some months. Customs clearance, import duties and radio type approval take time, so plan lead time and use a local clearing agent.
Not necessarily. Terminals are operated by separate companies, such as Transpetro, Ultracargo, Vopak and Stolthaven, each with its own procedures. Confirm equipment approval and procurement requirements with each terminal operator before planning a fleet.
