Ex-Proof Cell Phone Distributor in Hungary

The IS-04Z1 is an intrinsically safe Android handset designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, built for Hungarian refinery units, polymer plants, pharmaceutical solvent areas and gas installations. The Arad-Szeged natural gas pipeline connects Romania and Hungary, so border compressor and metering stations belong to the national gas network. An Ex-proof cell phone distributor in Hungary would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.

More about Hungary that matters for portable equipment

Hungary: industry on the ground

The Matra power plant, the last coal electricity producer, supplied about 9% of Hungary's electricity in 2020 and was served by coal mines in Visonta and Bükkábrány, with a gas combined-cycle replacement planned.

Hungary: rules and approvals

Under ATEX, Category 3 equipment may be self-certified by the manufacturer with a technical dossier, while Category 1 and 2 usually involve a notified body, which affects what Hungarian buyers should ask for.

Hungary: industry on the ground

Wanhua-BorsodChem, based at Kazincbarcika in north-east Hungary, produces isocyanates (MDI and TDI), PVC and chlor-alkali products, and is a major chemical employer for plant maintenance and shutdown contractors.

Hungary: background

MOL was established on 1 October 1991 as the legal successor of nine members of the National Oil and Gas Trust, which dated from 1957, giving Hungary a long industrial oil and gas history.

The term · Ex-proof

What “Ex-proof” means for a smartphone

“Ex-proof” is shorthand for equipment carrying an explosion-protection marking (the Ex mark) that matches the area it enters. The marking states the protection concept, gas or dust group and temperature class, and it must be backed by a certificate issued by a recognised body, so a phone described as Ex-proof should come with a certificate number you can check.

The IS-04Z1 is designed to carry the marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. That is a target: certification is in progress, no certificate has been issued, and SAMS will publish the certificate numbers when they exist.

In Hungary. A Hungarian marking check would compare gas group, dust capability, category and temperature class with the zone plan. Refinery and cracker areas, pharmaceutical solvent rooms and bioethanol plants may not share the same needs. The IS-04Z1 marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4; it remains a target, not a granted marking.

Questions · Hungary

Frequently asked questions

Can we buy an Ex-proof cell phone in Hungary today?

No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.

What does an Ex-proof cell phone in Hungary cost?

There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.

What Ex marking will the IS-04Z1 carry?

The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. It becomes a marking only when the certificate is issued; until then it is a design target.

Which sites in Hungary does this cover?

The market guide for Hungary covers Százhalombatta, Tiszaújváros, Kazincbarcika, Dorog, among others. Site-level pages are linked below.

How do I become a SAMS distributor for Hungary?

Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Hungary.

What documentation language is needed for Hungarian sites?

Hungarian is the working language, and ATEX instructions are typically expected in the language of the destination country. Providing Hungarian instructions with the certificate pack often helps, though international operators may also accept English. Check with the site safety office.

Does Hungary require ATEX for handheld devices in hazardous areas?

Hungary is an EU member, so ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU applies to equipment and Directive 1999/92/EC to workplace zoning. Zone 1 and Zone 2 devices should carry CE and Ex markings with instructions in the local language. Operators usually add their own permit and registration rules.

Is ATEX the evidence a Hungarian operator will ask for?

ATEX is the usual reference in the EU, and Hungary applies it through national law. Some operators or international contractors also ask for IECEx. Ask the operator's HSE or explosion-protection lead which evidence they accept before ordering.
