Hungary: industry on the ground
MOL's Danube Refinery at Százhalombatta started up in 1965 and has a capacity of about 8.1 million tonnes a year, making it one of the largest refineries in Central and Eastern Europe.
The IS-04Z1 is an intrinsically safe Android handset designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, built for Hungarian refinery units, polymer plants, pharmaceutical solvent areas and gas installations. MOL was established on 1 October 1991 as the legal successor of nine members of the National Oil and Gas Trust, which dated from 1957, giving Hungary a long industrial oil and gas history. Distribution partners for Hungary are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Hungary has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
For the record, no certificate exists for the IS-04Z1 today. The programme is under way ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

MOL's Danube Refinery at Százhalombatta started up in 1965 and has a capacity of about 8.1 million tonnes a year, making it one of the largest refineries in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Matra power plant, the last coal electricity producer, supplied about 9% of Hungary's electricity in 2020 and was served by coal mines in Visonta and Bükkábrány, with a gas combined-cycle replacement planned.
Under ATEX, Category 3 equipment may be self-certified by the manufacturer with a technical dossier, while Category 1 and 2 usually involve a notified body, which affects what Hungarian buyers should ask for.
The Arad-Szeged natural gas pipeline connects Romania and Hungary, so border compressor and metering stations belong to the national gas network.
IECEx is the international scheme for certifying equipment used in explosive atmospheres. A certificate of conformity is issued by an accredited certification body against a specific edition of the IEC 60079 standards and carries a schedule of conditions of safe use. It is not a legal requirement in most countries on its own, but many national schemes accept it as the technical basis.
The IECEx certificate for the IS-04Z1 is in progress and has not been issued. The marking target is Ex ib IIC T4, the intrinsic safety concept for Zone 1 gas with the hardest gas group (IIC) and a 135 °C temperature class.
In Hungary. Hungarian sites such as Százhalombatta, Tiszaújváros and Kazincbarcika use contractors who also work in other countries. For them the IECEx scheme is a familiar reference, with a certificate of conformity naming the equipment and a schedule of conditions setting conditions of use. IECEx certification for the IS-04Z1 is in progress; none can be cited yet.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Hungary yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
No. The IECEx certificate is in progress and has not been issued. SAMS will publish the number when it exists.

Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Hungary.
Continental winters can bring sub-zero temperatures, which reduce battery capacity. Check the lowest rated ambient temperature on the certificate and whether touch input works with gloves. Plan spare batteries and warm storage for outdoor work at refineries and pipeline stations.
MOL is the largest integrated oil, gas and petrochemical group, and the Paks plant and gas network operators also have hazardous areas. Each company runs its own supplier approval, so contact its procurement and HSE teams for current device and contractor requirements.
Gas groups, dust and temperature needs differ between a refinery and a solvent suite. A device would need a marking that suits each classification. Check each plant's zone documents, since the answer depends on the operator's classification rather than the device alone.
