Hungary: background
MOL was established on 1 October 1991 as the legal successor of nine members of the National Oil and Gas Trust, which dated from 1957, giving Hungary a long industrial oil and gas history.
The IS-04Z1 is an intrinsically safe Android handset designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, built for Hungarian refinery units, polymer plants, pharmaceutical solvent areas and gas installations. Wanhua-BorsodChem, based at Kazincbarcika in north-east Hungary, produces isocyanates (MDI and TDI), PVC and chlor-alkali products, and is a major chemical employer for plant maintenance and shutdown contractors. An industrial mobile phone distributor in Hungary would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.

MOL was established on 1 October 1991 as the legal successor of nine members of the National Oil and Gas Trust, which dated from 1957, giving Hungary a long industrial oil and gas history.
Four operating reactors built between 1982 and 1987 form the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, and nuclear is the main domestic energy source, with almost half of Hungary's energy imported as of 2024.
MOL is active in exploration and production, refining, distribution, petrochemicals, power generation, trading and retail, with operations in over 30 countries and 2,400 service stations in ten countries as of 2025.
MOL's Danube Refinery at Százhalombatta started up in 1965 and has a capacity of about 8.1 million tonnes a year, making it one of the largest refineries in Central and Eastern Europe.
“Industrial” describes a phone built for plant conditions: sealed, drop-resistant and manageable at fleet scale through Android Enterprise. It does not by itself mean the phone may enter a classified area. Only a device with a valid explosion-protection certificate and marking may do that.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to be both an industrial Android phone (IP68, 4,000 mAh battery, 50 MP camera, Android 16 with EMM and MDM support) and an intrinsically safe one. Its explosion-protection certificates are in progress and have not been issued.
In Hungary. Hungarian plants combine in-house staff and contractors, so EMM or MDM enrolment is useful for provisioning and removal. The IS-04Z1 is designed for managed deployment. Charging belongs in a safe area, and Hungarian-language set-up and connectivity at gas storage and refinery sites should be agreed beforehand.
A distributor for Hungary would carry the IS-04Z1 after certification completes; the Q4 2026 launch is the planning date and no appointment has been made. SAMS reviews applicants one by one and prefers companies with their own Ex-competent technical and service staff, since certified devices must not be repaired outside approved channels.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
Yes by design: IP68 sealing, a 4,000 mAh battery, a 50 MP camera and Android 16 with EMM and MDM support. The explosion-protection certificates are separate and still in progress.

Hungarian is the working language, and ATEX instructions are typically expected in the language of the destination country. Providing Hungarian instructions with the certificate pack often helps, though international operators may also accept English. Check with the site safety office.
Hungary is an EU member, so ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU applies to equipment and Directive 1999/92/EC to workplace zoning. Zone 1 and Zone 2 devices should carry CE and Ex markings with instructions in the local language. Operators usually add their own permit and registration rules.
ATEX is the usual reference in the EU, and Hungary applies it through national law. Some operators or international contractors also ask for IECEx. Ask the operator's HSE or explosion-protection lead which evidence they accept before ordering.
