Summers are very hot on this stretch of the Gulf of Oman coast, so handset heat tolerance matters for outdoor rounds.

More about Sohar that matters for portable equipment
Sohar: background
The first lease at the new port was signed with Sohar Refinery in 2003, and the free zone itself was established in 2010, so many plants are of 2000s to 2010s vintage.
Sohar: infrastructure
Hafeet Rail is building a 238 km line to connect the port with the UAE national network, and its first track shipment arrived through the Steinweg general cargo terminal.
Sohar: who works there
C. Steinweg Oman holds the concession for dry bulk, break-bulk, roll-on/roll-off and container stuffing operations in the port, so cargo-side contractors work under a separate terminal operator.
Sohar: rules and approvals
Oman's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority follows EU-style type-approval procedures for radio equipment and issues a TRA label; a self-declaration route has also been introduced, so confirm the current path.
The term · rugged
What “rugged” means for a smartphone
A rugged phone is built to survive water, dust, drops and rough handling, usually rated by an IP code and a drop specification. Ruggedness is an environmental property: it says nothing about whether a phone may be used where flammable gas or dust is present. That is decided by explosion-protection certification and marking.
The IS-04Z1 combines both: an IP68 sealed rugged build and a design for Zone 1 and Zone 21 (marking target Ex ib IIC T4). The explosion-protection certificates are in progress and none has been issued.
In Sohar. Summers are extremely hot, with a record of 50.8 C, and rainfall is low. IP68 is designed to resist dust and immersion, which helps with fine sand and washdown, but it does not provide explosion protection. Check temperature class and the permitted ambient range for outdoor shifts.
