Intrinsically Safe Smartphone Distributor in Salalah

Salalah is the capital of Dhofar Governorate, with a major port and the adjacent Salalah Free Zone, a subsidiary of Asyad Group. Salalah's new international airport opened on 15 June 2015, and the old airport was converted into a domestic and emergency airfield, with flights linking Muscat, India and regional Arab cities. An intrinsically safe smartphone distributor in Salalah would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.

The term · intrinsically safe

What “intrinsically safe” means for a smartphone

Intrinsic safety limits the electrical and thermal energy in a circuit so that neither a spark nor a hot surface can ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even when a fault occurs. The ib level, used for Zone 1, tolerates one fault. It is the usual way to make a handheld device that a worker carries continuously through a hazardous area.

The IS-04Z1 is designed on this principle for Zone 1 and Zone 21 (marking target II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4). Intrinsic safety is a design basis, not a certificate: certification is in progress and none has been issued yet.

In Salalah. The LPG plant was built to process about 8 million standard cubic metres a day of lean gas, so rounds across extraction, storage and loading are long. An intrinsically safe handheld lets operators and inspectors keep checklists, photos and permits on one device. That is what the IS-04Z1 is designed for.

Questions · Salalah

Frequently asked questions

Can we buy an intrinsically safe smartphone in Salalah today?

No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.

What does an intrinsically safe smartphone in Salalah cost?

SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.

What does ‘intrinsically safe’ mean for the IS-04Z1?

The circuits are designed to limit energy so a spark or hot surface cannot ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even with one fault (level ib, Zone 1). Certification of that design is in progress.

Which areas at Salalah would use it?

Likely candidates are methanol and ammonia production, lpg extraction and storage, port liquid bulk handling. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.

How do I become a SAMS distributor for Salalah?

Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Salalah.

How does the monsoon season affect work?

From June to September the khareef monsoon brings cloud and fog, especially in July and August, so conditions are cooler and damper than in northern Oman. Protect portable equipment against moisture and condensation during this season.

Do phones need approval?

Yes, Oman TRA type approval is needed for telecom equipment and is valid for four years. Your distributor should confirm the approval for the model.

Does the khareef monsoon affect equipment?

The monsoon runs from June to September and brings mist and rain, unlike most of Oman. IP68 is designed to withstand water and dust, but it is not explosion protection. Check the certified ambient range and keep devices dry. Ask the operator about wet-weather practice.
