Sinopec: geography and layout
Sinopec Group is based in Chaoyang District, Beijing, and is administered by SASAC on behalf of the State Council, with listed subsidiary Sinopec Limited traded in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Sinopec is a Beijing-headquartered state-controlled energy and chemicals group and the world's largest oil refining conglomerate. Sinopec Limited was established in February 2000 and listed in Hong Kong, New York and London in October 2000, raising 3.5 billion dollars, and a Shanghai listing followed in 2001. Buyers searching for an intrinsically safe mobile phone supplier for Sinopec can take the datasheet and the certification schedule for the IS-04Z1 now; supply follows certification.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. An intrinsically safe mobile phone for Sinopec cannot be bought yet: the SAMS IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued), and the datasheet, certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
Current position: certification in progress, nothing issued, launch targeted for Q4 2026. An operator's own vendor approval is a separate step. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in China. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
Where it operates and the kinds of classified area a handset would meet there.
Sinopec buys largely through its own EPEC.com procurement portal, and only suppliers certified by Sinopec can sell on it; confirm current certification steps with Sinopec. The Ex certificate and an organisation's own vendor or engineering approval are two separate timelines; SAMS is working towards both and holds neither today.

The Jiujiang Petrochemical Complex was first built in 1975, has been upgraded repeatedly and processes about 8 million tonnes of crude oil a year, so old and modern plant sit together on one site.
A joint-venture ethylene plant in Wuhan was completed at the end of 2012 with a South Korean partner, designed to provide about 800,000 tonnes a year of ethylene.
Intrinsic safety limits the electrical and thermal energy in a circuit so that neither a spark nor a hot surface can ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even when a fault occurs. The ib level, used for Zone 1, tolerates one fault. It is the usual way to make a handheld device that a worker carries continuously through a hazardous area.
The IS-04Z1 is designed on this principle for Zone 1 and Zone 21 (marking target II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4). Intrinsic safety is a design basis, not a certificate: certification is in progress and none has been issued yet.
In Sinopec. Large refinery and petrochemical sites such as Zhenhai in Ningbo involve long inspection routes and turnaround campaigns with photographing, tag reading and permits. A handheld designed as intrinsically safe could carry that on one device. The IS-04Z1 is designed for this use, though certification is still in progress.
Nothing can be bought for Sinopec today: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch, and SAMS will supply end users through authorised distributors once certificates exist. What a buyer can do now is take the specification, ask for the written certification schedule and arrange a safe-area evaluation, so that the right local channel contacts you at launch.
The technical specification, marking target and conditions of use, sent by email.
Which certificates are in progress, in what order, and what is still to be confirmed.
Evaluation units can be used for connectivity, MDM enrolment and workflow testing outside classified areas.
Tell us the site, zone, gas group and quantity so the right authorised distributor can contact you.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
The circuits are designed to limit energy so a spark or hot surface cannot ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even with one fault (level ib, Zone 1). Certification of that design is in progress.

Through authorised distributors once certificates exist. Until then SAMS can send the datasheet and certification schedule and arrange safe-area evaluation units.
Large chemical industry parks usually apply park-wide safety rules, access control and contractor induction on top of each plant's own permit system. Check with both the plant operator and the park management what training and equipment approvals are needed before bringing devices on site.
Eastern coastal plants are often hot and humid in summer with salt-laden air near the coast, which stresses seals, connectors and batteries. Look for good ingress protection and corrosion resistance, and ask the plant about its environmental limits for portable electronics.
Only suppliers certified by Sinopec can sell on its EPEC.com portal, so certification comes first. Confirm the current steps with Sinopec. The IS-04Z1 has no certificate yet and SAMS has appointed no distributor, so no sales route is open. A datasheet and schedule can be shared now.
