What “industrial” means for a smartphone
“Industrial” describes a phone built for plant conditions: sealed, drop-resistant and manageable at fleet scale through Android Enterprise. It does not by itself mean the phone may enter a classified area. Only a device with a valid explosion-protection certificate and marking may do that.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to be both an industrial Android phone (IP68, 4,000 mAh battery, 50 MP camera, Android 16 with EMM and MDM support) and an intrinsically safe one. Its explosion-protection certificates are in progress and have not been issued.
In Brazil. Terceirizados arrive for a parada and leave again, so fleets change with every contract. Android 16 with EMM and MDM enrolment ties a device to a crew, restricts the app set and wipes it at demobilisation, keeping a loaned fleet auditable. Portuguese runs from the first screen, and charging stays in safe areas.

Can we buy an industrial cell phone in Brazil today?
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
What does an industrial cell phone in Brazil cost?
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.
Is the IS-04Z1 an industrial phone as well as an Ex phone?
Yes by design: IP68 sealing, a 4,000 mAh battery, a 50 MP camera and Android 16 with EMM and MDM support. The explosion-protection certificates are separate and still in progress.

Where does hazardous-area work concentrate in Brazil?
Typically offshore pre-salt platforms and floating units off the south-east coast, onshore refineries and terminals, petrochemical complexes and ethanol and sugar mills. Each operator issues its own area classification, so request the zone drawing, gas or dust group and temperature class before choosing equipment.
What does ANATEL require for a smartphone sold in Brazil?
Radio equipment needs ANATEL certification through the CERTIFICA platform, using a local legal representative who signs the warranty and technical support declaration, with digital signatures from ICP-Brasil on templates. Requirements change, so confirm current steps with ANATEL or an accredited certification body.
Is an IECEx or ATEX certificate enough for Brazil?
No: certification is compulsory and issued by an OCP accredited by INMETRO, under Portaria INMETRO 115 of 2022. IECEx data normally supports the Brazilian file without replacing it. The IS-04Z1 has no certificate of any kind yet. Check requirements with Petrobras or your contract's equipment specification.
