Storage and capacity
SLNG states three tanks of 180,000 cubic metres each plus a fourth of 260,000 cubic metres, with average send-out capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum and a peak of around 11.
The SLNG Terminal sits on a 40-hectare plot at the southern-most tip of Jurong Island and began commercial operations in May 2013. It receives, stores and sends out natural gas, mainly for power generation, so tank, jetty and send-out areas are gas-hazardous. Distribution partners for Singapore LNG Terminal, Jurong Island are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Singapore LNG. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
A short profile of the site and the kinds of classified area that matter for portable equipment.
SLNG states three tanks of 180,000 cubic metres each plus a fourth of 260,000 cubic metres, with average send-out capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum and a peak of around 11.
Two jetties accommodate LNG vessels from 2,000 to 265,000 cubic metres, up to the largest Q-Max carriers.
When it opened in 2013 the terminal had a single jetty and two storage tanks, and it has been expanded in stages as Singapore's LNG demand grew.
Gas and LNG facilities are covered by Singapore's Workplace Safety and Health framework, and Major Hazard Installations need documented area classification drawings under MOM and SCDF rules.
SLNG plans to develop a second LNG terminal, an offshore facility slated to be operational by the end of the decade, in addition to the Jurong Island terminal.
The terminal supplies about 50 percent of the natural gas used for Singapore's electricity, with the rest coming by pipeline, and it could cover all present demand if required.
IECEx is the international scheme for certifying equipment used in explosive atmospheres. A certificate of conformity is issued by an accredited certification body against a specific edition of the IEC 60079 standards and carries a schedule of conditions of safe use. It is not a legal requirement in most countries on its own, but many national schemes accept it as the technical basis.
The IECEx certificate for the IS-04Z1 is in progress and has not been issued. The marking target is Ex ib IIC T4, the intrinsic safety concept for Zone 1 gas with the hardest gas group (IIC) and a 135 °C temperature class.
In Singapore LNG Terminal, Jurong Island. An LNG terminal receives carriers and contractors from many countries, which is where an international scheme helps. IECEx offers a certificate of conformity plus a schedule of conditions that a visiting inspector can read in the same way everywhere. For the IS-04Z1 both are pending, as the programme is in progress.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Singapore LNG Terminal, Jurong Island yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.
No. The IECEx certificate is in progress and has not been issued. SAMS will publish the number when it exists.
Likely candidates are lng storage tanks, lng jetties and loading arms, regasification and send-out. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Singapore LNG Terminal, Jurong Island.
Because natural gas supplies more than 90 percent of electricity, the terminal's continuity is a national priority, and maintenance on tanks, jetties and send-out systems is planned carefully. Short windows mean contractors usually need tools and devices approved before they arrive.
SLNG states an average capacity of 9 million tonnes per year and a peak of up to 11 million, with two jetties and four storage tanks, one of 260,000 cubic metres. A site of this scale uses several contractors, so expect formal induction and permits.
Jurong Island is a protected place, and SLNG controls site access and equipment approval. A demonstration would need security passes and operator agreement, and the IS-04Z1 has no certificate yet. Confirm requirements with the operator before bringing devices on site.
