Reduc makes more than 40 products and has a stated capacity of 239,000 barrels a day.
Duque de Caxias is an industrial municipality on Guanabara Bay about 17 km from downtown Rio de Janeiro. It hosts the Petrobras Duque de Caxias refinery (Reduc), which started up in 1961, so refining and gas-processing units create Zone 1 areas. Distribution partners for Duque de Caxias are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Duque de Caxias has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Where things stand: the IS-04Z1 has not launched, and none of its four certification routes has produced a certificate yet. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

Reduc makes more than 40 products and has a stated capacity of 239,000 barrels a day.
Petrobras plans US$4.6 billion for Reduc in 2026-2030, with maintenance shutdowns of the coking and hydrotreating units scheduled in 2026.
Reduc is listed among the Petrobras refineries receiving modernisation (revamp) projects in the company's refining investment portfolio, alongside Replan and the Presidente Bernardes refinery.
Reduc sells about 55 different products, the most of any Petrobras refinery, from diesel, jet fuel and asphalt to LPG, paraffins, lubricants, coke and sulphur, so many hazardous product streams are handled on site.
Petrobras has installed a reverse osmosis system supplied by SETA to treat and reuse refinery effluents, an example of the water-management projects that run alongside normal operations.
Reduc began operating in 1961 near Rio de Janeiro, one of the early refineries built after Petrobras was created in 1953 with a legal monopoly.
IECEx is the international scheme for certifying equipment used in explosive atmospheres. A certificate of conformity is issued by an accredited certification body against a specific edition of the IEC 60079 standards and carries a schedule of conditions of safe use. It is not a legal requirement in most countries on its own, but many national schemes accept it as the technical basis.
The IECEx certificate for the IS-04Z1 is in progress and has not been issued. The marking target is Ex ib IIC T4, the intrinsic safety concept for Zone 1 gas with the hardest gas group (IIC) and a 135 °C temperature class.
In Duque de Caxias. Petrobras plans US$4.6 billion for Reduc in 2026-2030, which may bring international EPCs and specialists to Duque de Caxias. IECEx offers them a familiar certificate of conformity and schedule of conditions. The IS-04Z1 IECEx certification is in progress, not held.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Duque de Caxias yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
No. The IECEx certificate is in progress and has not been issued. SAMS will publish the number when it exists.
Likely candidates are refinery process units, tank farms and pipelines, loading and dispatch areas, biofuel (saf and renewable diesel) processing. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Duque de Caxias.
Typically choose a device with the right zone, gas group and temperature class, carry its certificate, and confirm local radio approval requirements. Many sites also require induction and an approved-equipment check at the gate, so allow time for that.
Lubricant plants and gas processing mean both flammable liquids and flammable gases can occur, sometimes with hydrocarbon vapours near ambient temperature. Ask the operator for the applicable gas groups; do not assume one device rating covers every unit.
Maintenance shutdowns of the coking and hydrotreating units are scheduled in 2026, which brings large contractor numbers into classified areas. Plan lead times early. Certification is in progress, so confirm schedules and requirements with the site operator and its HSE team.
