United Arab Emirates: rules and approvals
TDRA type approval certificates last three years, need no local representative but a compliance mark, and a valid supplier registration is required.
The IS-04Z1 is a Zone 1 and Zone 21 handset for UAE field crews and the people who equip them: offshore operators, maintenance technicians, HSE advisers and telecoms teams. The UAE stretches more than 650 km along the southern shore of the Persian Gulf, and most of the coast consists of salt pans that extend far inland. An IECEx cell phone distributor in United Arab Emirates would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.

IECEx is the international scheme for certifying equipment used in explosive atmospheres. It is not a legal requirement in most countries on its own, but many national schemes accept it as the technical basis.
