Hyderabad Pharma City is a planned 19,000-acre cluster in Ranga Reddy district, announced in 2018 and given National Investment and Manufacturing Zone status in 2019. It remains under development, and its status has been questioned in 2025.
Sources credit Hyderabad and Telangana with about 40 per cent of India's bulk drug output, which is why solvent-handling plants are numerous in the region.
Neovantage Innovation Parks in Genome Valley offers around 1,000,000 square feet of space with tenants including Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline, Mylan and Ashland, covering vaccine development, contract research and bio-pharma production.
The tropical wet and dry climate means summers from March to June are hot and dry, with maxima often above 40 degrees Celsius between April and June.
Hyderabad occupies about 650 square kilometres on the Deccan Plateau along the Musi River at an average altitude of 536 metres, with 9.7 million people in the metropolitan region in 2011.

A hazardous area is a place where flammable gas, vapour or combustible dust may be present. Standards divide these into zones: Zones 0, 1 and 2 for gas and vapour, and Zones 20, 21 and 22 for dust. Zone 1 and Zone 21 are the tier where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation, which is where the IS-04Z1 is designed to work. Anything carried in must be marked for the zone, gas group and temperature class of the area.
No certificate has been issued for the IS-04Z1 yet, so it must not be taken into a classified area until the certificate covering it exists and the site operator has accepted it.
In Hyderabad, Telangana. The hazardous areas here are specific rooms inside plants, covering solvent storage and dispensing, API reactor areas, powder handling and warehouse solvent stores. No single site is verified for this page, so each plant's operator classifies its own rooms. PESO is the regulator, and SAMS does not classify areas.

Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.

Not exactly. Explosion proof is a broad everyday term; intrinsic safety is one protection concept, which limits energy so ignition cannot occur. Flameproof (Ex d) is a different concept that contains an explosion. The IS-04Z1 is intrinsically safe by design.
Bulk drug and formulation plants use solvents and process gases, so reactor halls, solvent stores and effluent areas may be classified. Biotech labs usually have fewer classified zones, so ask each site for its area classification.
Summer maxima often exceed 40 degrees Celsius from April to June, with a record of 45.5 degrees. Check the device's operating range and charging limits, and avoid leaving equipment in vehicles.
Hyderabad Pharma City is a planned cluster still under development, and its status has been questioned. Future plants there would classify their own solvent and powder areas. Treat it as a possible future market, and confirm timing and requirements with the plant operators when they exist.
