Bulk drug base
Sources credit Hyderabad and Telangana with about 40 per cent of India's bulk drug output, which is why solvent-handling plants are numerous in the region.
Hyderabad occupies about 650 square kilometres on the Deccan Plateau along the Musi River at an average altitude of 536 metres, with 9.7 million people in the metropolitan region in 2011. Bulk drug and API plants in the wider Hyderabad region use flammable solvents, creating Zone 1 and Zone 21 areas in specific rooms. Distribution partners for Hyderabad, Telangana are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Hyderabad, Telangana has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
For the record, no certificate exists for the IS-04Z1 today. The programme is under way ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. An operator's own vendor approval is a separate step. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Hyderabad India. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.

Genome Valley covers roughly 2,000 acres around Shamirpet and Medchal, hosting pharma manufacturing, research and contract research organisations. It was founded in 1999 as a public-private park.
It was commissioned in 1999 as SP Biotech Park in a public-private partnership with Bharat Biotech, and is now in its third phase about 11 kilometres from the first two.
Heavy south-west monsoon rain falls between June and October, the record high is 45.5 degrees Celsius, and the city gets about 2,731 hours of sunshine a year.
India's Telecommunication Engineering Centre has run mandatory testing and certification of many telecom products since 2019, and registration must go through an authorised Indian representative.
Technical institutions including IIT Hyderabad, BITS Pilani Hyderabad, IIIT Hyderabad and TIFR Hyderabad give the region a deep supply of engineers and scientists.
“Explosion proof” is the phrase most buyers use for equipment that may be taken into a classified hazardous area. Strictly, it covers several protection concepts: a flameproof enclosure (Ex d) contains an internal explosion, while intrinsic safety (Ex i) limits electrical energy so that an ignition cannot start. Phones are normally intrinsically safe, because a flameproof handset would be too heavy to carry all shift.
The IS-04Z1 uses intrinsic safety, with a marking target of Ex ib IIC T4, and is designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21. It is pre-launch, certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued.
In Hyderabad, Telangana. In bulk drug and API plants, explosion-proof is a casual term. The real choice is between flameproof enclosures, Ex d, and intrinsic safety. Rooms with solvent reactors and dispensing favour intrinsically safe handhelds, since people carry them into the room and cannot rely on a fixed enclosure.
Distribution of the IS-04Z1 is by authorised partners only, and SAMS has not yet granted a territory for Hyderabad, Telangana. Each application is reviewed on its merits. Because opening a certified Ex handset in an ordinary workshop invalidates its certificate, the partner must be able to support and service the device locally.
No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.
It is intrinsically safe (marking target Ex ib IIC T4), which is the usual way to make a phone for hazardous areas. It is not a flameproof (Ex d) design, and certification is still in progress.
Likely candidates are solvent storage and dispensing, api reactor areas, powder handling, warehouse solvent stores. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Hyderabad, Telangana.
No, it is a cluster of campuses and parks with many tenants, including multinational and Indian firms. Rules for access and equipment vary by campus, so confirm with each facility manager.
Many telecom products now require mandatory testing and certification, which must be handled through an authorised Indian representative. Ask your supplier what certificates they hold for the exact model.
Not for this page. The region has many pharma plants, and no individual plant has been verified here. Zone 1 and Zone 21 rooms exist where flammable solvents and powders are handled. Ask each plant's EHS team for its classification records.
