Humid tropics
Annual rainfall is about 2,770 mm, with a dry season from November to April and rains from May to October.
Warri sits on the Warri River, which joins the Forcados and Escravos rivers through Jones Creek in the lower Niger Delta, so creeks and rivers shape how people and equipment reach many sites. Chevron's Escravos gas plant and gas-to-liquids plant lie in the western Niger Delta. Distribution partners for Warri are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.

Annual rainfall is about 2,770 mm, with a dry season from November to April and rains from May to October.
The refinery has been shut and restarted repeatedly since 2025, and NNPC signed a memorandum with Chinese firms in April 2026 on restart plans; confirm current status first.
Warri is described as one of the main hubs of Nigeria's petroleum industry, with the Warri Refinery and Petrochemicals at Ekpan and Ubeji and many oil company operational offices located close by.
The city has a seaport that acts as the cargo transit point between the Niger River and the Atlantic Ocean, with Nigerian Ports Authority (Delta Ports) handling the main import and export traffic.
The dry season runs from about November to April and brings the harmattan, a dusty haze on the north-east trade winds, while the rainy season spans May to October with a short drier spell in August.
Oil company yards at places such as Ogunu, Escravos and Forcados have their own helipads, and a general passenger airport serves the Osubi area, giving air access that complements river and road routes.
A hazardous area is a place where flammable gas, vapour or combustible dust may be present. Standards divide these into zones: Zones 0, 1 and 2 for gas and vapour, and Zones 20, 21 and 22 for dust. Zone 1 and Zone 21 are the tier where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation, which is where the IS-04Z1 is designed to work. Anything carried in must be marked for the zone, gas group and temperature class of the area.
No certificate has been issued for the IS-04Z1 yet, so it must not be taken into a classified area until the certificate covering it exists and the site operator has accepted it.
In Warri. Classified areas include refinery process units, gas plants and gas-to-liquids facilities and seaport and jetty fuel handling. Operators such as the refining company or Chevron's Escravos team, not SAMS, classify them. Because the refinery has been shut and restarted repeatedly, check which units are live before specifying.
A distributor for Warri would carry the IS-04Z1 after certification completes; the Q4 2026 launch is the planning date and no appointment has been made. SAMS reviews applicants one by one and prefers companies with their own Ex-competent technical and service staff, since certified devices must not be repaired outside approved channels.
No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
Zone 1 and Zone 21 (gas and dust) with gas group IIC and temperature class T4, subject to certification. It must not be used in a classified area before its certificate is issued and the site has accepted it.
Likely candidates are refinery process units, gas plants and gas-to-liquids facilities, seaport and jetty fuel handling. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.

Rain falls from about May to October with annual totals near 2,770 mm, so expect sustained humidity. Choose devices with a sealed housing and a strap or holster, keep spare batteries dry, and check the operator's induction rules about devices in wet, classified outdoor areas.
Typically yes. The dry-season harmattan carries fine dust that can clog ports, speaker grilles and cooling paths, so sealed enclosures (dust-tight ratings) and routine cleaning matter. Confirm the dust and ingress requirements with the site operator before specifying equipment.
The refinery has been shut and restarted repeatedly since 2025, and NNPC signed a memorandum with Chinese firms in April 2026 on restart plans. Check current status first, before planning any visit or quote. Confirm it with the site operator.
