Hazardous Area Mobile Phone Distributor in Indonesia Mining

Indonesia holds the world's largest nickel reserves, estimated at 55 million tonnes, and its share of global nickel output rose from 16 percent in 2017 to 54 percent in 2023. Fuel storage, coal handling, process plants and smelters create hazardous areas, with dust areas at coal preparation and underground work at Grasberg. Distribution partners for Indonesian mining regions are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.

The term · hazardous area

What “hazardous area” means for a smartphone

A hazardous area is a place where flammable gas, vapour or combustible dust may be present. Standards divide these into zones: Zones 0, 1 and 2 for gas and vapour, and Zones 20, 21 and 22 for dust. Zone 1 and Zone 21 are the tier where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation, which is where the IS-04Z1 is designed to work. Anything carried in must be marked for the zone, gas group and temperature class of the area.

No certificate has been issued for the IS-04Z1 yet, so it must not be taken into a classified area until the certificate covering it exists and the site operator has accepted it.

In Indonesian mining regions. Hazardous areas on Indonesian mines include coal handling and preparation plants with dust, fuel and lubricant stores, underground workings and smelter or process plants. Each operator classifies its own areas. The sheet does not claim methane for any specific mine, so ask each operator.

Questions · Indonesia Mining

Frequently asked questions

Can we buy a hazardous area mobile phone in Indonesia Mining today?

No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.

What does a hazardous area mobile phone in Indonesia Mining cost?

No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.

Which hazardous areas is the IS-04Z1 designed for?

Zone 1 and Zone 21 (gas and dust) with gas group IIC and temperature class T4, subject to certification. It must not be used in a classified area before its certificate is issued and the site has accepted it.

Which areas at Indonesian mining regions would use it?

Likely candidates are coal handling and preparation plants (dust, zone 21), fuel and lubricant storage, underground mine areas, smelter and process plant areas. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.

How do I become a SAMS distributor for Indonesian mining regions?

Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Indonesian mining regions.

Who regulates mining safety and equipment in Indonesia?

Mining activity falls under the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, with the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal setting policy under the mining law. Equipment and radio requirements may involve other agencies, so confirm approvals with the operator and your adviser.

How remote are mining sites in Indonesia for supporting equipment?

Many sites are in Kalimantan, Sulawesi or Papua and need sea or air freight plus long road legs. Typically contractors stock spare batteries and chargers on site, and allow longer lead times for repairs and import clearance.

Does the IS-04Z1 target marking cover coal dust areas?

The target marking, II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4, is for gas atmospheres. Coal preparation plants are dust areas, which need a dust marking and separate assessment. Do not assume coverage. Confirm requirements for each area with the mine operator's safety department.
