Private and public tank farms sit near the port; Indian Oil reports crude storage at Kandla, and Parker Agrochem and Aegis rent liquid storage capacity. Several operators therefore work in one area.
Visibility in the harbour is generally good through the year, with low visibility mostly during rain and storms, which helps outdoor marine operations.
The port authority operates at three locations along the Gulf of Kutch: Kandla Creek, Tuna Tekra and the offshore oil terminal at Vadinar.
The port was built in the 1950s as the chief seaport for western India and was renamed Deendayal Port in 2017.
Kandla, officially Deendayal Port, handled 132.3 million tonnes of cargo in 2023-24, mainly liquid and bulk, and is described as India's largest port by cargo volume.
“Ex-proof” is shorthand for equipment carrying an explosion-protection marking (the Ex mark) that matches the area it enters. The marking states the protection concept, gas or dust group and temperature class, and it must be backed by a certificate issued by a recognised body, so a phone described as Ex-proof should come with a certificate number you can check.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to carry the marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. That is a target: certification is in progress, no certificate has been issued, and SAMS will publish the certificate numbers when they exist.

Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. It becomes a marking only when the certificate is issued; until then it is a design target.

Deendayal Port Authority runs an offshore oil terminal at Vadinar as one of its three locations, and it contributes strongly to the port's income. Contractors may work at both sites, with separate access procedures.
April and May are driest but hottest, the monsoon runs from June to September, and visibility is generally good except in rain and storms. Confirm schedules with the port and tide tables.
It can be. New oil jetties and a planned cargo port mean new classified areas and more contractors on site. Project teams usually specify equipment early, so enquire in good time. Confirm with the port or the project contractor who sets the equipment requirements.
