Greece: logistics and access
HelleniQ Energy operated 1,475 service stations in Greece in 2026, so fuel forecourts with classified areas are spread across the mainland and islands.
The IS-04Z1 is an intrinsically safe Android handset designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, built for refinery rounds in the Attica heat, gas terminal work at Revithoussa and Alexandroupolis, and the cargo and bunker operations that run out of Piraeus. HelleniQ Energy, formerly Hellenic Petroleum, operates three refineries at Thessaloniki, Elefsina and Aspropyrgos with 57% of national refining capacity; Motor Oil Hellas holds the remaining 43%. An Ex-proof smartphone distributor in Greece would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Greece has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
For the record, no certificate exists for the IS-04Z1 today. The programme is under way ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Greece. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
Operators and classified areas drawn from the SAMS Greece market guide.
HelleniQ Energy operated 1,475 service stations in Greece in 2026, so fuel forecourts with classified areas are spread across the mainland and islands.
Greece imported about 496,600 barrels of oil a day against domestic production of 7,946, according to the cited 2011 data, so imported crude moves through port terminals and tank farms.
Motor Oil Hellas, headquartered in Marousi, operates the Corinth refinery, which gives it about 35% of Greek refining, and its naphtha complex of 22,000 barrels a day was completed in 2022.
Petrochemicals, including plastics, PVC, polypropylene, aliphatic solvents, chlorine and sodium hydroxide, are produced at a unit forming part of the Thessaloniki refinery.
“Ex-proof” is shorthand for equipment carrying an explosion-protection marking (the Ex mark) that matches the area it enters. The marking states the protection concept, gas or dust group and temperature class, and it must be backed by a certificate issued by a recognised body, so a phone described as Ex-proof should come with a certificate number you can check.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to carry the marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. That is a target: certification is in progress, no certificate has been issued, and SAMS will publish the certificate numbers when they exist.
In Greece. A Greek marking check would compare the device's category, gas group and temperature class with the zone plan at the refinery, LNG terminal or yard. Fuel areas and gas terminals differ from one another, so the group needed follows the operator's classification. The IS-04Z1 marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Greece yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. It becomes a marking only when the certificate is issued; until then it is a design target.

Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Greece.
Greece is an EU member, so ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU applies and CE plus Ex marking is the normal basis for acceptance, with zoning under Directive 1999/92/EC. Refineries typically add their own permit-to-work and device registration. Ask the safety office for its current process.
HelleniQ Energy runs refineries at Thessaloniki, Elefsina and Aspropyrgos, and Motor Oil Hellas operates the remaining capacity. These are the best-known large classified-area sites. Operators run their own contractor induction and device approval, so confirm requirements before arrival.
The IS-04Z1 is designed with IP68 sealing for industrial use, but heat affects any battery. Ask for the datasheet's temperature range and test a unit on a real summer round near the coast. Site rules on charging and storing devices still apply.
