Remote logistics
Personnel and spares move by helicopter and supply vessel, so a failed device may take days to replace.
Indonesia's offshore oil and gas is spread across the Natuna area, the Java Sea and the Kutai Basin off East Kalimantan, where the Mahakam block is run by Pertamina Hulu Mahakam. Platforms and FPSOs are Zone 1 environments for process, drilling and maintenance crews. An Ex-proof mobile phone distributor in Offshore Indonesia would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Offshore Indonesia has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Status: pre-launch. IECEx, ATEX, UKEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued; launch is planned for Q4 2026. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Offshore Indonesia. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.

Offshore units for fields such as Belanak in the Natuna Sea have been fabricated at yards in Batam before sailing out.
Natuna had about 84,900 inhabitants in 2025, around 80 percent of Malay origin, and Indonesian and local Malay are the main languages, which helps visiting crews working with local contractors.
Natuna Regency, the northernmost part of Riau Islands Province, has only 1,984 sq km of land within a total area of about 264,198 sq km, so almost all of it is open sea.
The Tangguh field in Bintuni Bay, West Papua, was estimated to hold 4.4 trillion cubic feet of proven gas, with annual LNG output expected to reach about 7.6 million tonnes.
Indonesia produced about 450.8 million tonnes of oil equivalent of energy in 2019, and its total primary energy supply rose by nearly 60 percent between 2000 and 2021.
“Ex-proof” is shorthand for equipment carrying an explosion-protection marking (the Ex mark) that matches the area it enters. The marking states the protection concept, gas or dust group and temperature class, and it must be backed by a certificate issued by a recognised body, so a phone described as Ex-proof should come with a certificate number you can check.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to carry the marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. That is a target: certification is in progress, no certificate has been issued, and SAMS will publish the certificate numbers when they exist.
In Offshore Indonesia. A marking check offshore would match the label to the zone of a wellhead, drilling area or processing module, with the right gas group and temperature class. Gas streams may include hydrogen-bearing components, so reviewers read the drawings. The target marking is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4, unapproved.
A distributor for Offshore Indonesia would carry the IS-04Z1 after certification completes; the Q4 2026 launch is the planning date and no appointment has been made. SAMS reviews applicants one by one and prefers companies with their own Ex-competent technical and service staff, since certified devices must not be repaired outside approved channels.
Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. It becomes a marking only when the certificate is issued; until then it is a design target.
Likely candidates are wellhead and production platforms, fpsos and floating production units, drilling and workover areas, gas processing modules. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Offshore Indonesia.
Seas and weather vary through the year, with monsoon periods affecting boat and helicopter schedules, so deliveries of spares can be delayed. Devices should be rated for humidity, salt and rain, and spares should be carried to cover a longer supply gap.
Typically by air to Ranai on Natuna Island and then by supply boat or helicopter to the installation, though routes depend on the operator. Check the operator's mobilisation instructions and baggage limits for electronic equipment well before travel.
Because personnel and spares move by helicopter and supply vessel, replacement can take days. Plan spare units and offline-capable apps. The operator may require approval before mobilisation. Confirm logistics with the operator's offshore team.
