Wikipedia describes a liquid terminal of 97 tanks holding 425,000 kilolitres for crude oil, chemicals and edible oils.
The Mundra LNG terminal is run by GSPC LNG Limited, a joint venture of GSPC and Adani Enterprises, with a first-phase capacity of 5 million tonnes a year completed in October 2018.
Mundra is India's largest commercial and container port, handling over 155 million tonnes a year, about 11 percent of India's maritime cargo and nearly a third of its container traffic.
The Gulf of Kutch coast to the west, such as at Kandla, is hot and dry, with April and May maxima around 40 degrees Celsius and low rainfall.
The port is designed for containers, dry bulk, break bulk, liquid cargo and automobiles, so a wide mix of hazards exists across terminals.
Agreements signed in 2002 and later cover crude oil handling for refinery customers, and a single-point mooring became operational in late 2005.
“Ex-proof” is shorthand for equipment carrying an explosion-protection marking (the Ex mark) that matches the area it enters. The marking states the protection concept, gas or dust group and temperature class, and it must be backed by a certificate issued by a recognised body, so a phone described as Ex-proof should come with a certificate number you can check.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to carry the marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. That is a target: certification is in progress, no certificate has been issued, and SAMS will publish the certificate numbers when they exist.
In Mundra, Gujarat. A marking check at Mundra should compare the device against the cargo: crude oil and chemicals may be classified, while edible oils are generally less hazardous. LNG areas involve light gas. The IS-04Z1 target marking is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4, and the operator's classification decides suitability.
Distribution of the IS-04Z1 is by authorised partners only, and SAMS has not yet granted a territory for Mundra, Gujarat. Each application is reviewed on its merits. Because opening a certified Ex handset in an ordinary workshop invalidates its certificate, the partner must be able to support and service the device locally.
Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
