LNG terminal
Petronet LNG reported the Dahej terminal expanded from 17.5 to 22.5 million tonnes a year, with the additional capacity commissioned by 31 March 2026. A third jetty for LNG, ethane and propane is being built.
Dahej is a cargo port and industrial area in Bharuch district on the Gulf of Khambhat, Gujarat. It hosts Petronet LNG's terminal and petrochemical and liquid-handling operations, so gas, LNG and chemical handling create Zone 1 areas. An Ex-proof mobile phone distributor in Dahej, Gujarat would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Dahej, Gujarat has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Current position: certification in progress, nothing issued, launch targeted for Q4 2026. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Dahej India. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.

Dahej is a deep-water cargo port handling LNG, chemicals, coal and petroleum products, with a large Special Economic Zone in its hinterland and rail and road links.
The nearest airports are at Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara, and Bharuch, about 45 kilometres away, is being connected to Dahej by a broad-gauge rail siding.
It is the first terminal in India to load LNG into trucks, with four truck-loading bays, and acts as a hub for small-scale LNG for customers without pipeline access.
The port lies in the Gulf of Cambay at the junction of the Guljaria and Ban creeks and is a natural deep-water port taking vessels with a draft of up to 25 metres.
The hinterland is being developed as a special economic zone of 30,000 hectares, with the four-lane highway being widened to six lanes and the rail line upgraded to broad gauge sidings.
“Ex-proof” is shorthand for equipment carrying an explosion-protection marking (the Ex mark) that matches the area it enters. The marking states the protection concept, gas or dust group and temperature class, and it must be backed by a certificate issued by a recognised body, so a phone described as Ex-proof should come with a certificate number you can check.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to carry the marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. That is a target: certification is in progress, no certificate has been issued, and SAMS will publish the certificate numbers when they exist.
In Dahej, Gujarat. A marking check at Dahej would compare the device against natural gas, ethane and propane areas and chemical tank areas. Light hydrocarbons often point to lower gas groups, while some chemicals need other groups. The plant's classification sets the requirement. The IS-04Z1 target marking is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Dahej, Gujarat yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.
The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. It becomes a marking only when the certificate is issued; until then it is a design target.
Likely candidates are lng storage and regasification, ethane and propane handling, marine jetties, petrochemical plants. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Dahej, Gujarat.
High water can rise 10 to 11 metres, which affects vessel movements, jetty operations and marine support work. Schedules usually follow tide tables, so build flexibility into plans for jetty visits.
LNG sites typically classify areas around storage tanks, vaporisation units, jetty loading arms and truck loading bays, because vapour can form a flammable mixture with air. The operator defines the zones, so request the drawings and accepted approvals before entering.
Check ingress rating, corrosion resistance of connectors and seals, and how the device is stored between shifts. Heavy rain, salty air and heat all matter. IP68 helps with water, but explosion protection comes only from the marking. Ask the operator about its portable equipment rules in wet weather.
