The United States shipped 11.9 Bcf a day of LNG in 2024, with Louisiana's four terminals handling three-fifths. Cheniere reports 16 trains in operation across Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi.
The United States exports LNG mainly from Gulf Coast terminals in Louisiana and Texas. Zone 1 and Zone 21 areas arise at liquefaction trains, storage tanks, loading arms and gas compression. A rugged smartphone distributor in US LNG export terminals would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. US LNG export terminals has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Current position: certification in progress, nothing issued, launch targeted for Q4 2026. An operator's own vendor approval is a separate step. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in US LNG Terminals. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
A short profile of the site and the kinds of classified area that matter for portable equipment.
The United States shipped 11.9 Bcf a day of LNG in 2024, with Louisiana's four terminals handling three-fifths. Cheniere reports 16 trains in operation across Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi.
Cameron LNG has three trains of about 12 mtpa. Calcasieu Pass has 10 mtpa nameplate capacity and began commercial operations on 16 April 2025. Freeport LNG is in Freeport, Texas.
Golden Pass LNG at Sabine Pass, owned 70 percent by QatarEnergy and 30 percent by ExxonMobil, has an 18 million tonne a year capacity and was due to be commissioned in 2025.
By 2023 the US had become the world's biggest LNG exporter, with Cheniere, Freeport LNG and Venture Global as the largest exporters, and exported about 4.3 trillion cubic feet that year.
US Department of Energy records list export and re-export applications for projects including Cameron LNG, Port Arthur LNG Phase II, Sabine Pass Liquefaction, Golden Pass and Corpus Christi Liquefaction.
LNG developments sign long-term sales contracts, typically for 20 to 25 years, before investors commit, so sites operate for decades and equipment standards stay stable.
A rugged phone is built to survive water, dust, drops and rough handling, usually rated by an IP code and a drop specification. Ruggedness is an environmental property: it says nothing about whether a phone may be used where flammable gas or dust is present. That is decided by explosion-protection certification and marking.
The IS-04Z1 combines both: an IP68 sealed rugged build and a design for Zone 1 and Zone 21 (marking target Ex ib IIC T4). The explosion-protection certificates are in progress and none has been issued.
In US LNG export terminals. Terminals sit on the Gulf Coast in Louisiana and Texas, which is hot and humid with storm exposure, and berths add spray and wet decks. IP68 sealing helps against water and dust. It is not explosion protection, which depends on the Ex marking still being pursued for the IS-04Z1.
A distributor for US LNG export terminals would carry the IS-04Z1 after certification completes; the Q4 2026 launch is the planning date and no appointment has been made. SAMS reviews applicants one by one and prefers companies with their own Ex-competent technical and service staff, since certified devices must not be repaired outside approved channels.
Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
It is designed to IP68 sealing, with glove-friendly controls. Ruggedness is not explosion protection: that depends on the certificates, which are in progress.
Likely candidates are liquefaction trains, lng storage tanks, ship loading berths, gas compression and pipelines. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for US LNG export terminals.
Typical classified areas are around storage tanks, vaporisers, loading arms, compressor buildings and flare systems. The operator defines these with area classification drawings, so request them before any visit and confirm what approved portable equipment they accept.
LNG must vaporise and mix with air within a flammable range of roughly 5 to 15 percent before it ignites. Leaks and vents therefore create gas-hazard zones, which is why sites control portable electronics and ignition sources carefully.
Terminal operators and EPC contractors normally control equipment approvals, so the approving party depends on whether the site is operating or under construction. The IS-04Z1 has no certificate yet. Confirm requirements with the site operator or EPC before any proposal.
