Terminals
Cameron LNG has three trains of about 12 mtpa. Calcasieu Pass has 10 mtpa nameplate capacity and began commercial operations on 16 April 2025. Freeport LNG is in Freeport, Texas.
The United States exports LNG mainly from Gulf Coast terminals in Louisiana and Texas. Golden Pass LNG at Sabine Pass, owned 70 percent by QatarEnergy and 30 percent by ExxonMobil, has an 18 million tonne a year capacity and was due to be commissioned in 2025. Distribution partners for US LNG export terminals are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. US LNG export terminals has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Status: pre-launch. IECEx, ATEX, UKEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued; launch is planned for Q4 2026. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in US LNG Terminals. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.

Cameron LNG has three trains of about 12 mtpa. Calcasieu Pass has 10 mtpa nameplate capacity and began commercial operations on 16 April 2025. Freeport LNG is in Freeport, Texas.
Golden Pass at Sabine Pass, Texas, reported its first export cargo on 22 April 2026, and Cheniere reports substantial completion of its Corpus Christi Stage 3 project.
LNG is held at about minus 162 degrees Celsius and is not itself flammable; it must first vaporise and mix with air in a range of roughly 5 to 15 percent before it can burn.
The Lake Charles LNG terminal near Lake Charles, Louisiana, has facilities for LNG receipt, storage and regasification and is one of the few such US terminals.
By 2023 the US had become the world's biggest LNG exporter, with Cheniere, Freeport LNG and Venture Global as the largest exporters, and exported about 4.3 trillion cubic feet that year.
US Department of Energy records list export and re-export applications for projects including Cameron LNG, Port Arthur LNG Phase II, Sabine Pass Liquefaction, Golden Pass and Corpus Christi Liquefaction.
Intrinsic safety limits the electrical and thermal energy in a circuit so that neither a spark nor a hot surface can ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even when a fault occurs. The ib level, used for Zone 1, tolerates one fault. It is the usual way to make a handheld device that a worker carries continuously through a hazardous area.
The IS-04Z1 is designed on this principle for Zone 1 and Zone 21 (marking target II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4). Intrinsic safety is a design basis, not a certificate: certification is in progress and none has been issued yet.
In US LNG export terminals. LNG operators run inspection rounds across trains, storage tanks, loading berths and compression. A handheld intrinsically safe phone is designed to be carried into those Zone 1 areas for notes, photographs and field messaging. Commissioning of new capacity also draws many contractors; certification must be complete before any classified use.
Distribution of the IS-04Z1 is by authorised partners only, and SAMS has not yet granted a territory for US LNG export terminals. Each application is reviewed on its merits. Because opening a certified Ex handset in an ordinary workshop invalidates its certificate, the partner must be able to support and service the device locally.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
The circuits are designed to limit energy so a spark or hot surface cannot ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even with one fault (level ib, Zone 1). Certification of that design is in progress.
Likely candidates are liquefaction trains, lng storage tanks, ship loading berths, gas compression and pipelines. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for US LNG export terminals.
Typical classified areas are around storage tanks, vaporisers, loading arms, compressor buildings and flare systems. The operator defines these with area classification drawings, so request them before any visit and confirm what approved portable equipment they accept.
LNG must vaporise and mix with air within a flammable range of roughly 5 to 15 percent before it ignites. Leaks and vents therefore create gas-hazard zones, which is why sites control portable electronics and ignition sources carefully.
Terminal operators and EPC contractors normally control equipment approvals, so the approving party depends on whether the site is operating or under construction. The IS-04Z1 has no certificate yet. Confirm requirements with the site operator or EPC before any proposal.
