Petroperu maintains a Qualified Supplier Registration System (Registro de Proveedor Calificado) in which supplier information is validated by Achilles Peru; requirements are published on its website. The Ex certificate and an organisation's own vendor or engineering approval are two separate timelines; SAMS is working towards both and holds neither today.
Petroperú's published list of facilities includes its own sales plants at Talara, Piura, El Milagro and Conchán, own terminals at Talara and Conchán, and concession terminals at Eten, Salaverry, Chimbote, Callao and Supe.
In December 2020, at the government's request, it assumed the temporary concession for the natural gas pipeline distribution network in the south-west of the country, adding gas distribution duties.
In January 2021 the company unveiled a new corporate identity to position itself in the Peruvian fuel market, with strategic objectives including supplying fuel to the whole Peruvian market.
Petroperu was created by decree on 24 July 1969 after the state took over the Talara refinery in Piura, and it has been owned by the Peruvian state since then.
Intrinsic safety limits the electrical and thermal energy in a circuit so that neither a spark nor a hot surface can ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even when a fault occurs. The ib level, used for Zone 1, tolerates one fault. It is the usual way to make a handheld device that a worker carries continuously through a hazardous area.
The IS-04Z1 is designed on this principle for Zone 1 and Zone 21 (marking target II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4). Intrinsic safety is a design basis, not a certificate: certification is in progress and none has been issued yet.
In Petroperu. Operators on refinery rounds and pipeline pumping stations move between units, storage and control rooms. A handheld designed for intrinsic safety can be used for photos, readings and communication in classified areas if its certificate allows it. Whether this is allowed at Talara, Conchan, Iquitos or along the Oleoducto Norperuano is for Petroperu to decide.

Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.

Not exactly. Explosion proof is a broad everyday term; intrinsic safety is one protection concept, which limits energy so ignition cannot occur. Flameproof (Ex d) is a different concept that contains an explosion. The IS-04Z1 is intrinsically safe by design.
Likely places are the Talara refinery, fuel terminals, pump and pipeline stations and storage depots, where flammable vapours may occur. Zoning is facility-specific, so ask Petroperu's HSE team for classification drawings and its rules on portable electronics before specifying devices.
Spanish is the working language in Peru, so manuals, certificates and training are normally expected in Spanish, although English may be accepted for engineering review. Ask Petroperu's procurement team which language and format they require.
The IS-04Z1 has IP68 dust and water protection, which is helpful in rain and humidity. Temperature and humidity limits will be set by the final certificate and datasheet, so check them before use. IP68 is not explosion protection, and the Ex marking must match the classified area.
