Sweden: logistics and access
The Port of Gothenburg is the largest in the Nordic countries and handles nearly 30% of Sweden's foreign trade, about 39 million tonnes a year, so most imported equipment can enter through one port.
The IS-04Z1 is an intrinsically safe Android handset designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, built for refinery and cracker rounds on the west coast, mill and recovery boiler areas inland, and winter shifts in the north where a device is handled through two layers of glove. Transport, especially aviation fuel and cars, is still majority powered by fossil fuels, so fuel depots, airports and filling stations remain the largest flammable-liquid networks outside refineries. An intrinsically safe mobile phone distributor in Sweden would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Sweden has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
For the record, no certificate exists for the IS-04Z1 today. The programme is under way ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. Operator approval runs on its own timeline. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

The Lysekil refinery plan began in 1945 when the consumer-owned oil company OK was formed, but the plant was only inaugurated in 1975, and it remains one of the area's main employers.
Preem has announced plans, still in progress, to expand its refinery at Lysekil, which indicates continuing construction and maintenance work on the west coast.
In 2023, 98% of Swedish electricity generation came from renewables and nuclear, and over 20% of generation was exported to the rest of Europe, so hydro and nuclear sites dominate electricity work.
Intrinsic safety limits the electrical and thermal energy in a circuit so that neither a spark nor a hot surface can ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even when a fault occurs. The ib level, used for Zone 1, tolerates one fault. It is the usual way to make a handheld device that a worker carries continuously through a hazardous area.
The IS-04Z1 is designed on this principle for Zone 1 and Zone 21 (marking target II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4). Intrinsic safety is a design basis, not a certificate: certification is in progress and none has been issued yet.
In Sweden. Intrinsic safety suits winter rounds across long distances, between a mill, a terminal and a steelworks, where the handset is operated in gloves, often in the dark. A handheld that limits ignition energy allows photographs and readings in the zone. Gloved operation and one-handed use are worth testing on day one.
A distributor for Sweden would carry the IS-04Z1 after certification completes; the Q4 2026 launch is the planning date and no appointment has been made. SAMS reviews applicants one by one and prefers companies with their own Ex-competent technical and service staff, since certified devices must not be repaired outside approved channels.
Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
The circuits are designed to limit energy so a spark or hot surface cannot ignite a gas or dust atmosphere, even with one fault (level ib, Zone 1). Certification of that design is in progress.

Sweden is an EU member, so ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU applies to equipment and Directive 1999/92/EC to zoning. Zone 1 and Zone 2 devices should carry CE and Ex markings. Refineries such as Lysekil typically add their own permit and device registration rules, so ask the HSE office.
Swedish is the working language but English is widely used at international industrial sites. ATEX instructions are typically expected in the language of the destination country, so confirm with the operator whether Swedish documents are needed. Bring the declaration of conformity and certificate.
A rugged build covers low temperature and thermal shock, but the certified ambient range is a certificate parameter, published with the datasheet. Certification is in progress. Check the lower limit against the coldest conditions at the mine or steelworks before specifying.
