Denmark: background
North Sea natural gas projects began in 1984 and North Sea production made Denmark self-sufficient in energy in 1997, which explains the established offshore supply chain on the west coast.
The IS-04Z1 is an explosion proof mobile phone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, from a wet deck 225 km west of Esbjerg to a fermentation building at Kalundborg and a biogas upgrading skid on Lolland. Denmark expects to remain self-sufficient in oil until 2050 according to the cited article, so existing offshore and onshore oil facilities are likely to need maintenance work for years to come. Distribution partners for Denmark are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Denmark has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Status: pre-launch. IECEx, ATEX, UKEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued; launch is planned for Q4 2026. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

Manufacturers who apply the ATEX provisions and affix CE and Ex markings may sell equipment anywhere in the EU without further requirements for those risks, so Danish buyers can use EU-wide certificates.
Coal supplied less than 11% of electricity in 2019 and coal-fired generation was scheduled to end by 2028, so biomass and gas plants are replacing coal sites.
A target of 100% renewable electricity by 2030 and a wind turbine industry dating from the 1970s mean wind and green-energy projects are a large share of current construction work.
“Industrial” describes a phone built for plant conditions: sealed, drop-resistant and manageable at fleet scale through Android Enterprise. It does not by itself mean the phone may enter a classified area. Only a device with a valid explosion-protection certificate and marking may do that.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to be both an industrial Android phone (IP68, 4,000 mAh battery, 50 MP camera, Android 16 with EMM and MDM support) and an intrinsically safe one. Its explosion-protection certificates are in progress and have not been issued.
In Denmark. A handset can be wiped, re-enrolled and given to the incoming rotation without a technician touching it, so the device follows the bunk rather than the individual and no time is lost at the heliport. Android 16 with EMM and MDM supports that, with a Danish interface. Charging stays in safe areas.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Denmark yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
Yes by design: IP68 sealing, a 4,000 mAh battery, a 50 MP camera and Android 16 with EMM and MDM support. The explosion-protection certificates are separate and still in progress.

Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Denmark.
Cold, wet and windy conditions affect battery life and touchscreen use with gloves, particularly offshore and at wind farms. Check the lowest rated ambient temperature on the certificate, the water ingress rating and whether touch input works with wet or gloved hands.
Typically the EU declaration of conformity, the certificate, the Ex marking details and instructions in the local language, which may be Danish or English depending on the operator. Request the site's equipment register template so supplier documents can be matched to it.
The classification of areas into zones comes from the emergency management agency under an executive order, while the employer's duty to assess explosion risk and hold an explosion protection document comes from the Danish Working Environment Authority. SAMS classifies nothing. Confirm the arrangement with the site operator for your plant.
