Sweden: logistics and access
Transport, especially aviation fuel and cars, is still majority powered by fossil fuels, so fuel depots, airports and filling stations remain the largest flammable-liquid networks outside refineries.
The IS-04Z1 is an intrinsically safe Android handset designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, built for refinery and cracker rounds on the west coast, mill and recovery boiler areas inland, and winter shifts in the north where a device is handled through two layers of glove. The Lysekil refinery plan began in 1945 when the consumer-owned oil company OK was formed, but the plant was only inaugurated in 1975, and it remains one of the area's main employers. An industrial cell phone distributor in Sweden would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. Sweden has no appointed SAMS distributor yet: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued, launch planned for Q4 2026), and distributor applications are open.
Current position: certification in progress, nothing issued, launch targeted for Q4 2026. An operator's own vendor approval is a separate step. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

Transport, especially aviation fuel and cars, is still majority powered by fossil fuels, so fuel depots, airports and filling stations remain the largest flammable-liquid networks outside refineries.
Preem has announced plans, still in progress, to expand its refinery at Lysekil, which indicates continuing construction and maintenance work on the west coast.
In 2023, 98% of Swedish electricity generation came from renewables and nuclear, and over 20% of generation was exported to the rest of Europe, so hydro and nuclear sites dominate electricity work.
Sweden had the EU's highest share of renewable energy for heating and cooling at 69% in 2022, so biomass boilers and district heating plants with combustible dust are common.
“Industrial” describes a phone built for plant conditions: sealed, drop-resistant and manageable at fleet scale through Android Enterprise. It does not by itself mean the phone may enter a classified area. Only a device with a valid explosion-protection certificate and marking may do that.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to be both an industrial Android phone (IP68, 4,000 mAh battery, 50 MP camera, Android 16 with EMM and MDM support) and an intrinsically safe one. Its explosion-protection certificates are in progress and have not been issued.
In Sweden. Swedish fleets span refineries, mines and mills, often with contractors on long shifts and long distances. EMM and MDM support lets IT enrol the handset into the site fleet, with Swedish on the screen and in the file. Charging takes place in a safe area, and battery life should be tested in cold conditions.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Sweden yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
Yes by design: IP68 sealing, a 4,000 mAh battery, a 50 MP camera and Android 16 with EMM and MDM support. The explosion-protection certificates are separate and still in progress.
The market guide for Sweden covers Lysekil, Gothenburg river bank, Stenungsund, Nynäshamn, among others. Site-level pages are linked below.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Sweden.
Winter temperatures can be well below freezing, particularly in the north, which reduces battery capacity and affects touchscreen use with gloves. Check the lowest rated ambient temperature on the certificate, glove-friendly input and whether charging is possible outside the classified area.
Wood and biomass fuel handling creates combustible dust, so Zone 21 or Zone 22 areas may exist at boiler plants and fuel stores. Check that the device carries a dust marking suitable for the classification, not only a gas marking, and confirm with the plant operator.
Gloved operation is a design consideration, but screen response with gloves, physical key behaviour and one-handed use should be tested on the first day of a trial rather than accepted on paper. Use an evaluation unit on a real winter round.
