PTT: who works there
Affiliated companies include PTT Exploration and Production, PTT Global Chemical and PTT Green Energy, so upstream, petrochemical and power sites each have their own operating teams and procurement.
PTT is Thailand's state-controlled national energy company, with the Ministry of Finance holding 51.1%. It runs submarine gas pipelines in the Gulf of Thailand and the gas separation plants at Map Ta Phut, and controls group companies in exploration, petrochemicals and refining. This page sets out how an IECEx smartphone supply route to PTT will work for the IS-04Z1, and what is and is not available before launch.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. An IECEx smartphone for PTT cannot be bought yet: the SAMS IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued), and the datasheet, certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
Status: pre-launch. IECEx, ATEX, UKEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued; launch is planned for Q4 2026. Operator approval runs on its own timeline. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Thailand. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
The main sites and the hazardous-area types a portable device is likely to meet at this organisation.
Supplier registration and equipment approval are run by the organisation itself; confirm current requirements with its procurement and HSE teams. The Ex certificate and an organisation's own vendor or engineering approval are two separate timelines; SAMS is working towards both and holds neither today.
Affiliated companies include PTT Exploration and Production, PTT Global Chemical and PTT Green Energy, so upstream, petrochemical and power sites each have their own operating teams and procurement.
PTT owns extensive submarine gas pipelines in the Gulf of Thailand and a network of LPG terminals across the country, so offshore pipelines and LPG storage sites are key hazardous-area locations.
Between 1981 and 1983 the authority built Thailand's first gas transmission pipeline linking the Erawan and Bongkot fields with the Bang Pakong and South Bangkok power plants, starting gas-based power generation.
In 2016 PTT reported 4,616 employees at the parent and 24,680 at its subsidiaries, which shows most operational staff and contractors sit within subsidiary companies.
IECEx is the international scheme for certifying equipment used in explosive atmospheres. A certificate of conformity is issued by an accredited certification body against a specific edition of the IEC 60079 standards and carries a schedule of conditions of safe use. It is not a legal requirement in most countries on its own, but many national schemes accept it as the technical basis.
The IECEx certificate for the IS-04Z1 is in progress and has not been issued. The marking target is Ex ib IIC T4, the intrinsic safety concept for Zone 1 gas with the hardest gas group (IIC) and a 135 °C temperature class.
In PTT. At Map Ta Phut, international EPCs and licensors work alongside PTT group companies, and many are familiar with IECEx. A reviewer should read the certificate of conformity with its schedule of conditions. The IS-04Z1 is designed for IECEx, and certification is in progress.
Nothing can be bought for PTT today: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch, and SAMS will supply end users through authorised distributors once certificates exist. What a buyer can do now is take the specification, ask for the written certification schedule and arrange a safe-area evaluation, so that the right local channel contacts you at launch.
The technical specification, marking target and conditions of use, sent by email.
Which certificates are in progress, in what order, and what is still to be confirmed.
Evaluation units can be used for connectivity, MDM enrolment and workflow testing outside classified areas.

Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.
No. The IECEx certificate is in progress and has not been issued. SAMS will publish the number when it exists.
Supplier registration and equipment approval are run by the organisation itself; confirm current requirements with its procurement and HSE teams.
Through authorised distributors once certificates exist. Until then SAMS can send the datasheet and certification schedule and arrange safe-area evaluation units.
Thai is the working language for site staff, while English is commonly used in engineering and international projects. Manuals and training for hazardous-area devices are therefore often expected in Thai and English. Confirm the required languages with the relevant PTT group company.
Gulf of Thailand and Rayong-area sites are hot and humid with heavy monsoon rain and salty air, which stresses seals, connectors and batteries. Look for high ingress protection, corrosion resistance and a suitable temperature rating, and ask the site about its own environmental limits.
The IS-04Z1 is IP68 rated against dust and water, which helps with rain and humidity. Temperature and humidity limits will be set by the final certificate and datasheet, so check them. IP68 is not explosion protection. Certification is in progress and nothing has been issued.
