The IS-04Z1 is an intrinsically safe Android handset designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, built for refinery and petrochemical work at Aliağa and on the Marmara, gas terminal and pipeline operations, and the fertiliser and chemical plants inside the organised industrial zones. A nuclear power plant is under construction and about half of installed power capacity is renewable, so construction and commissioning sites are active alongside existing plants. Distribution partners for Turkey are being identified ahead of the Q4 2026 launch of the IS-04Z1.

What “IECEx” means for a smartphone
IECEx is the international scheme for certifying equipment used in explosive atmospheres. A certificate of conformity is issued by an accredited certification body against a specific edition of the IEC 60079 standards and carries a schedule of conditions of safe use. It is not a legal requirement in most countries on its own, but many national schemes accept it as the technical basis.
The IECEx certificate for the IS-04Z1 is in progress and has not been issued. The marking target is Ex ib IIC T4, the intrinsic safety concept for Zone 1 gas with the hardest gas group (IIC) and a 135 °C temperature class.
In Turkey. IECEx matters in Türkiye through international groups and contractors at the Aliağa and Marmara complexes, and at the Ceyhan export terminal. A certificate of conformity and its schedule of conditions lets their safety teams compare the handset with a common reference. For the IS-04Z1, this certification is still in progress.

Distributing the IS-04Z1 in Turkey
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Turkey yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.

Can we buy an IECEx cell phone in Turkey today?
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
What does an IECEx cell phone in Turkey cost?
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.
Does the IS-04Z1 hold an IECEx certificate?
No. The IECEx certificate is in progress and has not been issued. SAMS will publish the number when it exists.

Where is hazardous-area work concentrated in Turkey?
Refining and petrochemical complexes, gas and crude oil pipelines, LNG and fuel terminals, coal and lignite mines and power stations are the main examples, and Black Sea gas is a growing area. Request zone drawings from each operator, as classifications are site specific.
Does Turkey require ATEX or its own certification for Ex phones?
Turkey has aligned its equipment rules with the EU ATEX approach, but its own conformity marking and local requirements may apply to products placed on its market. Confirm the current requirement with the site operator or your importer before ordering, and ask about documentation language.
How will the IS-04Z1 perform in Turkish coastal summer heat?
The T4 target and certified ambient range will be published with the datasheet and certificate, which are in progress. IP68 sealing and a rugged build cover salt, dust and wash-down. Check the range against peak summer temperatures at your tank farm before specifying.
