Jordan: industry on the ground
The Arab Potash Company holds a concession to 2058 to extract Dead Sea minerals, has its main plants at Ghor Al Safi, and is the eighth-largest potash producer worldwide.
The IS-04Z1 is an intrinsically safe handset for people who cross into classified areas in Jordan every shift: potash and phosphate plant operators, refinery crews at Zarqa, port operators at Aqaba, and the HSE and telecoms teams who equip them. The Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company's activities include refining, filling gas cylinders, a lubricant factory and fuel marketing through JoPetrol, so one operator spans several hazardous-area process types. An IECEx cell phone distributor in Jordan would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.

The Arab Potash Company holds a concession to 2058 to extract Dead Sea minerals, has its main plants at Ghor Al Safi, and is the eighth-largest potash producer worldwide.
A separate modernisation project with UOP and Technip aims for 73,000 barrels a day, and construction began in 2024 on a 10,000-tonne LPG storage facility intended for completion in 2026.
Aqaba, at the north-eastern tip of the Red Sea, is Jordan's only seaport and is run by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, with King Hussein International Airport nearby for equipment arrivals.
Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, founded in 1949, operates three mines and a chemical and fertiliser manufacturing complex in Aqaba, which it took over when it bought Jordan Fertilizer in 1986.
IECEx is the international scheme for certifying equipment used in explosive atmospheres. A certificate of conformity is issued by an accredited certification body against a specific edition of the IEC 60079 standards and carries a schedule of conditions of safe use. It is not a legal requirement in most countries on its own, but many national schemes accept it as the technical basis.
The IECEx certificate for the IS-04Z1 is in progress and has not been issued. The marking target is Ex ib IIC T4, the intrinsic safety concept for Zone 1 gas with the hardest gas group (IIC) and a 135 °C temperature class.
In Jordan. Jordan's potash, phosphate, refinery and port operations use international contractors and suppliers who know IECEx. A certificate of conformity names the equipment, and its schedule of conditions sets the conditions of use. IECEx certification for the IS-04Z1 is in progress, along with JSMO conformity.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Jordan yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
Not today. Until the certificates are issued the IS-04Z1 stays out of classified areas, and until launch there is nothing to purchase. You can ask for the datasheet and the certification schedule, or book a safe-area evaluation unit.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
No. The IECEx certificate is in progress and has not been issued. SAMS will publish the number when it exists.

The Zarqa refinery, run by the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company, is the best-known, with refining, LPG filling and lubricants activity. Expansion and modernisation projects are planned or under way, so contractors work there. Confirm current access rules and device approvals with the company.
The market guide says Jordan's heaviest classified-area exposure is dust, at potash and phosphate sites, with gas at the refinery and Aqaba. Which applies depends on the area. Ask the operator for the zone classification, covering both dust and gas, before choosing a device.
