Hazardous Area Smartphone Distributor in US LNG Terminals

LNG developments sign long-term sales contracts, typically for 20 to 25 years, before investors commit, so sites operate for decades and equipment standards stay stable. Zone 1 and Zone 21 areas arise at liquefaction trains, storage tanks, loading arms and gas compression. A hazardous area smartphone distributor in US LNG export terminals would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.

The term · hazardous area

What “hazardous area” means for a smartphone

A hazardous area is a place where flammable gas, vapour or combustible dust may be present. Standards divide these into zones: Zones 0, 1 and 2 for gas and vapour, and Zones 20, 21 and 22 for dust. Zone 1 and Zone 21 are the tier where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation, which is where the IS-04Z1 is designed to work. Anything carried in must be marked for the zone, gas group and temperature class of the area.

No certificate has been issued for the IS-04Z1 yet, so it must not be taken into a classified area until the certificate covering it exists and the site operator has accepted it.

In US LNG export terminals. The area types are liquefaction trains, LNG storage tanks, ship loading berths, and gas compression and pipelines, where Zone 1 and Zone 21 areas arise. Each terminal operator, such as Cheniere, Sempra or Venture Global, classifies its own site. SAMS has no role in classification.

Questions · US LNG Terminals

Frequently asked questions

Can we buy a hazardous area smartphone in US LNG Terminals today?

Not yet. The IS-04Z1 is pre-launch and its certification is still in progress ahead of a Q4 2026 launch. No unit goes into a classified area before the certificate covering it exists. The datasheet, the certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.

What does a hazardous area smartphone in US LNG Terminals cost?

SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.

Which hazardous areas is the IS-04Z1 designed for?

Zone 1 and Zone 21 (gas and dust) with gas group IIC and temperature class T4, subject to certification. It must not be used in a classified area before its certificate is issued and the site has accepted it.

Which areas at US LNG export terminals would use it?

Likely candidates are liquefaction trains, lng storage tanks, ship loading berths, gas compression and pipelines. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.

How do I become a SAMS distributor for US LNG export terminals?

Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for US LNG export terminals.

What hazardous areas should I expect at an LNG terminal?

Typical classified areas are around storage tanks, vaporisers, loading arms, compressor buildings and flare systems. The operator defines these with area classification drawings, so request them before any visit and confirm what approved portable equipment they accept.

Why does LNG need special precautions even though it does not burn as a liquid?

LNG must vaporise and mix with air within a flammable range of roughly 5 to 15 percent before it ignites. Leaks and vents therefore create gas-hazard zones, which is why sites control portable electronics and ignition sources carefully.

Who approves handheld devices at an LNG export terminal?

Terminal operators and EPC contractors normally control equipment approvals, so the approving party depends on whether the site is operating or under construction. The IS-04Z1 has no certificate yet. Confirm requirements with the site operator or EPC before any proposal.
