Thailand: industry on the ground
Natural gas makes up about 27% of Thailand's total energy supply and fuels roughly 64% of electricity generation, so gas processing, pipelines and power plants dominate classified-area work.
A Zone 1 and Zone 21 handset for the people inside the Thai petrochemical cluster: shift operators on the Map Ta Phut crackers, reliability engineers at Sriracha, jetty and tank farm crews along the Rayong coast, and the safety and IT departments that rule on what passes a gate. Buyers searching for a hazardous area mobile phone supplier for Thailand can take the datasheet and the certification schedule for the IS-04Z1 now; supply follows certification.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. A hazardous area mobile phone for Thailand cannot be bought yet: the SAMS IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued), and the datasheet, certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
Current position: certification in progress, nothing issued, launch targeted for Q4 2026. An operator's own vendor approval is a separate step. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Thailand. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
The main operators, industrial areas and sites that the SAMS Thailand market guide covers.
Natural gas makes up about 27% of Thailand's total energy supply and fuels roughly 64% of electricity generation, so gas processing, pipelines and power plants dominate classified-area work.
The transport sector uses nearly half of oil products and oil is 41% of total energy supply, so fuel depots, filling terminals and distribution sites occur across the whole country.
As of March 2024 Thailand had 34 active petroleum projects across 47 oil fields in the Gulf of Thailand, so offshore platform and supply-base work is a large part of upstream activity.
The Eastern Economic Corridor, set up in 2017, spans three eastern provinces covering 13,266 square kilometres, and follows the earlier Eastern Seaboard programme that financed ports, roads, waterworks and industrial parks.
A hazardous area is a place where flammable gas, vapour or combustible dust may be present. Standards divide these into zones: Zones 0, 1 and 2 for gas and vapour, and Zones 20, 21 and 22 for dust. Zone 1 and Zone 21 are the tier where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation, which is where the IS-04Z1 is designed to work. Anything carried in must be marked for the zone, gas group and temperature class of the area.
No certificate has been issued for the IS-04Z1 yet, so it must not be taken into a classified area until the certificate covering it exists and the site operator has accepted it.
In Thailand. Thai classified areas cluster in one corridor: Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, the Rayong estates, Sriracha in Chonburi and the wider EEC, with offshore platforms in the Gulf and older plants along the Chao Phraya. The operator classifies each area. SAMS does not classify any area.
Supply of the IS-04Z1 to Thailand starts only after certification, through authorised distributors. Until then a buyer can request the datasheet and the written certification schedule, and arrange a safe-area evaluation unit, which puts the site on the list for the right local channel at launch.
The technical specification, marking target and conditions of use, sent by email.
Which certificates are in progress, in what order, and what is still to be confirmed.
Evaluation units can be used for connectivity, MDM enrolment and workflow testing outside classified areas.

No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
Zone 1 and Zone 21 (gas and dust) with gas group IIC and temperature class T4, subject to certification. It must not be used in a classified area before its certificate is issued and the site has accepted it.
The market guide for Thailand covers Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Rayong industrial estates, Sriracha, Chonburi, Laem Chabang, among others. Site-level pages are linked below.
Through authorised distributors once certificates exist. Until then SAMS can send the datasheet and certification schedule and arrange safe-area evaluation units.
Many operators, particularly those with international ownership, work to IEC 60079 and accept IECEx or ATEX paperwork, but this is decided by each site's own safety procedure. Ask for the approved equipment list and supply the certificate and marking details with your request.
Gas processing plants, pipeline stations, LNG receiving terminals, power stations using gas and offshore platforms are typical examples, given that gas fuels about 64% of electricity. Zone classification is site specific, so request the hazardous-area layout drawings.
The sheet describes certification under way with IECEx, the TISI and the NBTC route. None has been issued yet. A buyer should ask for the schedule and check the final certificates against site and regulator requirements before use.
