Pertamina: infrastructure
The six Arun LNG trains near Lhokseumawe in Aceh, with 12.5 million tonnes a year capacity, closed in 2014 for lack of feed gas, and the site now uses an LNG import terminal.
As of 2013 Pertamina operated six oil refineries with a combined capacity of around one million barrels a day, and it has not built a new refinery since Balongan in West Java opened in the mid-1990s. It covers upstream oil and gas, refining, gas, shipping and fuel distribution through subholdings, and operates six refineries. Buyers searching for an explosion proof mobile phone supplier for Pertamina can take the datasheet and the certification schedule for the IS-04Z1 now; supply follows certification.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. An explosion proof mobile phone for Pertamina cannot be bought yet: the SAMS IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued), and the datasheet, certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
Current position: certification in progress, nothing issued, launch targeted for Q4 2026. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

An intrinsically safe Android smartphone designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21 hazardous areas in Indonesia. It is pre-launch: IECEx, ATEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress ahead of the Q4 2026 launch.
The main sites and the hazardous-area types a portable device is likely to meet at this organisation.
Pertamina lists a general procurement programme and an e-procurement system (GEPSMART) on its website; confirm current vendor requirements with Pertamina. The Ex certificate and an organisation's own vendor or engineering approval are two separate timelines; SAMS is working towards both and holds neither today.

PT Donggi Senoro LNG in Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi, has one train with 2 million tonnes a year capacity, giving another LNG site where Pertamina has an investment.
Pertamina was created in August 1968 by merging Pertamin and Permina, and in 2003 it became a limited company, PT Pertamina (Persero), under the 2001 Oil and Natural Gas Act.
Like other contractors, Pertamina holds a cooperation contract with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Body, and it falls under the coordination of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises.
“Explosion proof” is the phrase most buyers use for equipment that may be taken into a classified hazardous area. Strictly, it covers several protection concepts: a flameproof enclosure (Ex d) contains an internal explosion, while intrinsic safety (Ex i) limits electrical energy so that an ignition cannot start. Phones are normally intrinsically safe, because a flameproof handset would be too heavy to carry all shift.
The IS-04Z1 uses intrinsic safety, with a marking target of Ex ib IIC T4, and is designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21. It is pre-launch, certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued.
In Pertamina. Around Indonesian refineries explosion-proof is shorthand, but the concepts behind it differ. Flameproof Ex d suits motors, lighting and junction boxes in process units, whereas a handheld phone relies on intrinsic safety, which limits electrical energy. For rounds at Plaju or Balongan the question is therefore which concept protects a portable device, and the IS-04Z1 uses intrinsic safety.
Supply of the IS-04Z1 to Pertamina starts only after certification, through authorised distributors. Until then a buyer can request the datasheet and the written certification schedule, and arrange a safe-area evaluation unit, which puts the site on the list for the right local channel at launch.

No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
No price is published. While certification is in progress there is no list price and no committed lead time, and a supplier quoting a firm figure for an uncertified Ex handset is promising something it cannot stand behind. Indicative pre-launch pricing is issued in writing against a stated quantity and site.
It is intrinsically safe (marking target Ex ib IIC T4), which is the usual way to make a phone for hazardous areas. It is not a flameproof (Ex d) design, and certification is still in progress.

Through authorised distributors once certificates exist. Until then SAMS can send the datasheet and certification schedule and arrange safe-area evaluation units.
Most Pertamina sites are hot and humid with heavy rain and coastal salt air, which stresses seals, connectors and batteries. For handheld devices look for strong ingress protection, corrosion resistance and thermal management, and ask the site about its own environmental limits.
Indonesia uses its own national standard conformity system alongside recognised international explosive-atmosphere certificates, and oil and gas operators apply their own specifications. Confirm with Pertamina and the site which certificates and local registration are accepted before offering handheld devices.
Typical uses would be the refinery process units at sites such as Dumai, Cilacap and Balongan, plus fuel terminals and production facilities. Which areas count as classified is Pertamina's call. Ask each site's HSE team for its area drawings before checking the IS-04Z1's target marking against them.
