Hungary: infrastructure
Four operating reactors built between 1982 and 1987 form the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, and nuclear is the main domestic energy source, with almost half of Hungary's energy imported as of 2024.
The IS-04Z1 is an intrinsically safe Android handset designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, built for Hungarian refinery units, polymer plants, pharmaceutical solvent areas and gas installations. This page sets out how an Ex-proof smartphone supply route to Hungary will work for the IS-04Z1, and what is and is not available before launch.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. An Ex-proof smartphone for Hungary cannot be bought yet: the SAMS IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued), and the datasheet, certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
Status: pre-launch. IECEx, ATEX, UKEX and NEC 500 certification is in progress and no certificate has been issued; launch is planned for Q4 2026. A buyer's engineering review is separate from the certificate. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

MOL is active in exploration and production, refining, distribution, petrochemicals, power generation, trading and retail, with operations in over 30 countries and 2,400 service stations in ten countries as of 2025.
MOL's Danube Refinery at Százhalombatta started up in 1965 and has a capacity of about 8.1 million tonnes a year, making it one of the largest refineries in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Matra power plant, the last coal electricity producer, supplied about 9% of Hungary's electricity in 2020 and was served by coal mines in Visonta and Bükkábrány, with a gas combined-cycle replacement planned.
“Ex-proof” is shorthand for equipment carrying an explosion-protection marking (the Ex mark) that matches the area it enters. The marking states the protection concept, gas or dust group and temperature class, and it must be backed by a certificate issued by a recognised body, so a phone described as Ex-proof should come with a certificate number you can check.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to carry the marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. That is a target: certification is in progress, no certificate has been issued, and SAMS will publish the certificate numbers when they exist.
In Hungary. A Hungarian marking check would compare gas group, dust capability, category and temperature class with the zone plan. Refinery and cracker areas, pharmaceutical solvent rooms and bioethanol plants may not share the same needs. The IS-04Z1 marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4; it remains a target, not a granted marking.
Nothing can be bought for Hungary today: the IS-04Z1 is pre-launch, and SAMS will supply end users through authorised distributors once certificates exist. What a buyer can do now is take the specification, ask for the written certification schedule and arrange a safe-area evaluation, so that the right local channel contacts you at launch.

No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
SAMS has not published a price. Any figure you are offered for an uncertified Ex phone should be treated with caution; written indicative pricing is available for a defined quantity and site.
The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. It becomes a marking only when the certificate is issued; until then it is a design target.

Through authorised distributors once certificates exist. Until then SAMS can send the datasheet and certification schedule and arrange safe-area evaluation units.
Continental winters can bring sub-zero temperatures, which reduce battery capacity. Check the lowest rated ambient temperature on the certificate and whether touch input works with gloves. Plan spare batteries and warm storage for outdoor work at refineries and pipeline stations.
MOL is the largest integrated oil, gas and petrochemical group, and the Paks plant and gas network operators also have hazardous areas. Each company runs its own supplier approval, so contact its procurement and HSE teams for current device and contractor requirements.
Gas groups, dust and temperature needs differ between a refinery and a solvent suite. A device would need a marking that suits each classification. Check each plant's zone documents, since the answer depends on the operator's classification rather than the device alone.
