Baton Rouge is the Louisiana state capital on the Mississippi River. Its economy is anchored by petrochemicals, with ExxonMobil's refinery and chemical complex in the city and Dow operations nearby. Class I and Zone 1 areas occur at process units, tank farms and docks. An Ex-proof mobile phone distributor in Baton Rouge would carry the IS-04Z1 to these buyers once certification completes.

The Port of Greater Baton Rouge is the farthest inland point on the Mississippi that ocean-going vessels can reach, linking industry to rail, pipeline and barge.
About 6,300 people work across the sites, around 4,000 direct employees with the rest contractors, so contractor induction is a central part of site access.
ExxonMobil's Baton Rouge complex began with the refinery in 1909 and now includes the refinery, a chemical plant and several other plants and terminals along the Mississippi River.
The Port of Greater Baton Rouge is the northernmost Mississippi River port able to take Panamax ships, with its shipping channel kept at about 45 feet and jurisdiction covering roughly 85 miles of the river.
The refinery runs its own power plant, which supports continuous operation of the interconnected process units.
“Ex-proof” is shorthand for equipment carrying an explosion-protection marking (the Ex mark) that matches the area it enters. The marking states the protection concept, gas or dust group and temperature class, and it must be backed by a certificate issued by a recognised body, so a phone described as Ex-proof should come with a certificate number you can check.
The IS-04Z1 is designed to carry the marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. That is a target: certification is in progress, no certificate has been issued, and SAMS will publish the certificate numbers when they exist.
In Baton Rouge. A marking check at ExxonMobil's refinery would compare the operator's area classification with the equipment label, covering group and temperature. Refinery and chemical units may involve hydrogen or ethylene, so IIC marking is conservative. The IS-04Z1 target marking is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4, pending certification.
SAMS is appointing authorised distributors ahead of the Q4 2026 launch. No territory has been granted for Baton Rouge yet and applications are reviewed company by company. Because a certified Ex device cannot be opened by an ordinary phone workshop without invalidating its certificate, SAMS looks for partners who can provide competent technical support and after-sales service locally.
No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4. It becomes a marking only when the certificate is issued; until then it is a design target.
Likely candidates are refinery process units, chemical plant units, tank farms, dock and loading facilities. Which areas are classified, and to what zone, is set by the site operator's own area classification drawings.
Apply through the distributor page with your company details and the territory you cover. SAMS reviews applications company by company and has not yet granted a territory for Baton Rouge.
Process units, pump rows, tank farms, loading racks and marine docks typically have Class I Division or Zone areas, often Group C or D. The refinery's classification drawings give specifics, so request them before specifying devices.
With a safety orientation, permit-to-work and gate checks, and often restrictions on personal electronics in process areas. Confirm the operator's requirements and approved-device list before you travel, and carry copies of device certificates.
ExxonMobil's refinery and chemical complex is in the city, with tank farms and dock and loading facilities on the Mississippi. Dow operates in neighbouring Iberville Parish, outside the city itself. Ask each operator which units and docks are classified and what equipment evidence it requires.
