Netherlands: who works there
Rotterdam has five port concessions, operated by separate companies under the overall authority of the port, so access, induction and device rules typically differ from terminal to terminal.
The IS-04Z1 is an intrinsically safe Android handset designed for Zone 1 and Zone 21, aimed at the refineries, chemical parks and tank terminals between Rotterdam and Geleen. Buyers searching for an ATEX and IECEx smartphone supplier for Netherlands can take the datasheet and the certification schedule for the IS-04Z1 now; supply follows certification.
Pre-launch · certification in progress · Launching Q4 2026
Short answer. An ATEX and IECEx smartphone for Netherlands cannot be bought yet: the SAMS IS-04Z1 is pre-launch (certification in progress, no certificate issued), and the datasheet, certification schedule and safe-area evaluation units are available now.
Current position: certification in progress, nothing issued, launch targeted for Q4 2026. An operator's own vendor approval is a separate step. Certification status. Place facts reviewed October 2026.

In 2020, 64.2% of Dutch power came from gas-fired thermal stations, and the last of fourteen gas power stations was commissioned in 2013, so gas plant maintenance is a recurring workload.
The Port of Rotterdam is Europe's largest seaport, covering 105 square kilometres over about 40 km, from the historic harbours through Botlek and Europoort to the reclaimed Maasvlakte on the North Sea.
The port of Amsterdam handled 63 million tonnes of cargo in 2023, is the second largest port in the Netherlands, and comprises 620 hectares of waterways and 1,995 hectares of land along the North Sea Canal.
ATEX is the European legal framework for equipment used in explosive atmospheres (Directive 2014/34/EU). IECEx is the international certification scheme built on the IEC 60079 standards. Buyers outside Europe often ask for both: an IECEx certificate is the technical evidence most national regimes build on, while ATEX is the legal route into the European market.
For the IS-04Z1 both routes are in progress with TÜV in Germany and neither certificate has been issued. The marking target is II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4: equipment Group II (surface industry), Category 2 (Zone 1 gas), protection concept ib (intrinsic safety), gas group IIC and temperature class T4.
In Netherlands. A Dutch HSE or procurement reviewer would look for ATEX evidence that drops straight into the site's explosieveiligheidsdocument: a precise marking string and a Dutch-language instruction manual, as the Warenwetbesluit requires. A dual ATEX and IECEx route helps international contractors in Botlek and Europoort. Both programmes are in progress and nothing is issued yet.
Supply of the IS-04Z1 to Netherlands starts only after certification, through authorised distributors. Until then a buyer can request the datasheet and the written certification schedule, and arrange a safe-area evaluation unit, which puts the site on the list for the right local channel at launch.

No. Nothing can be bought or taken into a classified area today: certification is in progress and launch is planned for Q4 2026. What is available now is the datasheet, the written certification schedule and evaluation units for safe-area use.
There is no list price yet. SAMS gives indicative pre-launch pricing in writing, against a stated quantity and site, and does not commit to a lead time before certification completes.
Not yet. Both routes are in progress with TÜV in Germany and no certificate has been issued. Any listing that says otherwise is wrong.

Through authorised distributors once certificates exist. Until then SAMS can send the datasheet and certification schedule and arrange safe-area evaluation units.
The Rhine-Meuse delta coast is windy and often wet, so check the water ingress rating, glove-friendly touch and cold-temperature battery performance. Terminals have separate induction processes, so plan device registration with each concession's HSE team in advance.
Petrochemical and refinery sites are concentrated at Botlek and Europoort and in the area west of the city, with further bulk terminals at Maasvlakte. Exact classifications are held by each concession holder, so request the zoning drawings for your terminal.
Camera policy is a site decision. Android 16 with EMM and MDM allows the camera, location services and apps to be restricted centrally, which lets a telecoms team show what is permitted. Hold the evidence for the site's security and HSE teams before bringing any device through the gate.
